I had just opened a new business. The building was apparently around 100 years old, so I suspected a few creaking doors etc. But this was different – much different.
A few months after we opened for business, we had an elderly couple staying in a room. We weren’t very busy and by the end of the day, the elderly couple and 3 other guests, who were staying the same room, were the only remaining guests.
I was sitting in my little office when someone popped their head around the door. “Sorry to bother you, but there is no-one at the front desk,” He said. I looked up and saw one of the 3 other guests standing at the door.
“Oh, yes. Sorry, Trina must be on her break.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it. I just wanted to let you know that we are going out to the pubs tonight so I wanted to apologize in advance if we make too much noise.”
“Ok. Thank-you, I’m sure it won’t be a problem” I smiled as he gave a thumbs up sign and left my office. I knew then that I was on the managers night shift and I was going to be alone at the Sunny Inn, with only the elderly couple a few floors up.
The hours passed quite quickly and the 3 guests left. this was when things got spooky. A man came down the stairs. A young man.
“Excuse me, dear. Have you seen Molly?” he said in a hushed voice, as he came towards the desk. He was wearing a black coat and a white shirt underneath it, with brown trousers.
“Sorry, who? Are you a guest here?” I didn’t quite know what was going on. I was really tired. I looked down to check the guest list, and said “Could I have your name, please?” but when I looked up, he was standing over the far side of the room, leaning on the wall – looking scared. I didn’t hear footsteps and didn’t understand how he had gotten over there.
“Are you alright?” I said, getting worried by now.
“Where’s Molly?! What have you done to my Molly?!” He shouted.
I heard a loud bang from upstairs. “OH!” I gasped, almost falling off my chair. But when I tried to lay my eyes back upon the man, he was gone.
The next morning, I was very shaken up. The elderly couple came downstairs and said someone was trying to get into their room. No-one was there.
