Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

My story takes place in my old house in Topeka, Kansas. We had moved in when I was about 2 years old. Nothing at all out of the ordinary had happened to me until one night I awoke in my bedroom in the middle of the night. I then saw three figures in my bedroom, one girl on the edge of my bed, one boy leaning against my wall, and one trying to get something off of my dresser. Okay, so now you are probably thinking that I am just making this up. Or that I was dreaming, as I was five or six at the time. I assure you though that this is true.

Well to say the least I was extremely scared. I do not remember what the girl on my bed was saying but I do remember that it seemed she was trying to comfort me. She was the only one that spoke to me. It seemed like they were there for hours, but I suspect it was mere minutes. Then they all just got up and walked through my door and disappeared. Now most people would have gone and told someone about this experience right away, but being five years old I just went back to sleep in my room.

Now for a long time I thought that I was done with spirits in my house, until today I was talking to my mom, and she told me that my aunt had an experience in my room too. Apparently when I was about 4 or so, my aunt came in to my room to get something for my hair. When she entered my room she felt as though someone was watching her. She also felt that she was not welcome in my bedroom.

That still isn’t the end of the thing that happened in my house. My mom also told me that once when she was sleeping in her bedroom, right next to my dad; she could have sworn that she saw my dad come into their bedroom with a handful of his T-shirts. Next she saw him drop the T-shirts and disappear, the next thing she knew she felt someone crawl into bed with her and lean up against her back. She said that it felt extremely real, but then she remembered that my dad was asleep next to her. Not against her back. She also smelled cigar smoke in the house while this was happening.

My mom had smelled the cigar smoke a good number of times since then, but she believes she knows who it was. The previous owner of our house had a fatal heart attack while driving his wife somewhere. She says that she believes this was who it was. My mom also states that I talked about the “people” in my room a couple of times after that, but not in as much detail.

I am happy to say that I no longer live in that house, but moved away almost a year. I also am happy to say that I haven’t had any more experiences with the paranormal since then.

I do believe that one of the “people” in my room was my uncle Andy, who had died before he was even born. I do not know how I know it was him, but I just am sure it was. Also all of this happened in less than twelve years, for that is how long I have been around.
