Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

While it happened long before I was born(1997 for all of you who are interested), I find myself thinking of the real incidents with the Mothman, not just the movie, more and more. I first learned about the Mothman about a year or so ago when I watch the movie The Mothman Prophecies with my older brother. After I saw that movie I wanted to learn everything I could about the Mothman. Most stories that I read are fan-fiction to the movie, and most pictures that I see are so obviously hoaxes.

Now I have seen reports about what the Mothman looked (looks?) like, and have seen “real” pictures. What I would like to know is, could the Mothman still be around?

The Silver Bridge collapse happened over the Ohio River in the mid-70′s. I can’t find many reports of Mothman sightings (this might just be operator error) past that year.

See, I live in Central Ohio, as I have my whole life. With the bridge collapse that happened so close to home, I keep thinking that if the Mothman was ever real, could it (he?) of stayed in Ohio?

Since the time I saw Pops in Nana’s basement I have been noticing something black following behind me. I have heard it whisper my name before(though it hasn’t happened since fifth grade), it has shut my bedroom door, moves things (too high off of the ground for it to be the dog or cat, mind you) while I’m home alone, moves my hair around, it has even yanked my jacket before. I have never looked this thing in the eyes. How I wear my hair it all but eliminates my peripheral vision. I do all that I can to avoid this thing. I can feel it watch me, it’s eyes penetrating my back.

I have asked people about this before. I have been told many things about it: it’s my dead grandfather watching over me, it’s Pops trying to take care of me, it’s a demon trying to eat my soul, the list goes on. I have an argument for most of them. I come from a very large family, why would my grandfather chose me over all of my cousins, aunts, and uncles? Pops died when I was almost too young to remember anything about him. Besides, he babysat so many children in his lifetime. He wouldn’t chose me just because I was his “little redhead”. And with the demon, if it really wanted to eat my soul, it would of done so by now.

I linked this with The Mothman Prophecies because that is the best way that I can describe how this thing looks. Take out the glowing red eyes and I could star in my own version of Mothman prophecies.
