I’ve experience some really strange things in my life but I’ve never truly believed in ghosts to be honest, but I have an open mind so I don’t dismiss things so quickly.
I’ve always thought it would be cool to see a ghost but its not something I think about from day to day, my story starts a few months back when my boyfriend moved into a flat. It was a pretty old house which had been split into an upstairs and downstairs flat.
When my boyfriend moved into the flat he wasn’t allowed to keep any pets there which meant that he had to leave his cat back at his old house.
Within the first few weeks of moving in he was settled into the downstairs flat and I would sleep over at the weekends. One morning I was in the bedroom just sorting out some clothes and things and I saw a tortoiseshell cat sat on the floor by my feet, I know it was there because I nearly tripped over it and I had to topple onto the bed to avoid standing on it, I was about to call to it… Then I remembered there wasn’t a cat in the flat. I looked around the room and there was no cat.
I thought that was a bit weird and perhaps my mind was playing because I’m used to cats circling my feet at my mums house.
A few days later I was in the bedroom again getting ready for bed and my boyfriend was there with me. I turned towards the TV and saw the reflection of a cat jump down from the desk the TV was resting on. I still couldn’t understand what I was seeing so I made a comment to my boyfriend about it, I didn’t say what color it was, just that I thought I saw a cat.
He told me that it was odd that I should mention it because he thought he’d seen a tortoise shell cat the day before, but there was clearly nothing there. I knew he wasn’t lying because he described it exactly like the one I’d seen.
After this we’d become familiar with strange cat sightings in the flat, it didn’t bother us because we both love cats and it was harmless. In fact we both enjoyed it being there.
A couple more weeks passed and my boyfriend decided that he’d bring his cat to the flat and keep it indoors so no one would know it was there.
His cat was a short-haired tortoise and white cat called tutti, she has little white socks on her feet. This is quite different to the ghost cat because the ghost cat did not have any white in its fur.
I was taking a bath one day and I was in the house on my own, I usually read when I’m in the bath (yes, the books end up soggy) And I heard little feet running up towards the bath and saw out of the corner of my eye a tortoiseshell cat come towards the bath, I was about to call out “tutti” when I looked over the side of the bath and saw nothing. Come to think of it the cat I saw didn’t have white on its body.
This is the first time it has ever freaked me out just because I felt very vulnerable, so I decided to make sure. I got out of the bath and ran into the drawing room calling tutti’s name, she was asleep curled up under the radiator where she usually slept. This is when I knew for sure of what I saw was in fact the ghost of a cat.
My boyfriend has moved back to his old house now and new people live in the downstairs flat, so I don’t know if its still there. I hope they don’t mind sharing the flat with the ghost cat.

how sweet! i wonder if your cat saw the ghost cat. i have lost cats before and then heard a meow a couple of times but never saw one. thanks for letting us know that our loved little pets do come back!
I just had to comment on the cat, because when my daughter, Noah, was three or four she informed me that she “Hallucinated” a black cat walking across her bed! She was having some sleep issues at the time so I was going to tell her Pediatrician about this but she wanted to tell him, so I let her. When she told him he laughed and asked, “Do you even know what ‘hallucinate’ means”? She furrowed her little brows, put her little hands on her hips and said “It MEANS that I saw something that wasn’t THERE!” I like to have died laughing, but she set him straight real quick! And before Caretaker has to go to the trouble of coming to my defense about what a three-year-old can and cant say LOL my daughter was speaking in complete sentences by the time she was 13 months and was tested to have a 2nd grade vocabulary when she was barely three. LOL! Thanks for the story!
lol! that’s so awesome.. I love it when little kids school adults! Your going to have your hands full when she gets older! As if you don’t already.. reminds me of my nephew..
im not a cat lover but i think its cool.it didnt bother you and your boyfriend.did your boyfreinds cat notice that there was a ghost cat there?if you dont mind me asking why did your bf leave if the cat didnt bother you?thanks for the story.good story by the way.
we left the flat because we moved back into his marital home which he owns but we both constantly miss living in the flat.
I sometimes feel my pop is in the house(i lost him 10 years ago) but have never seen him . I wish he would show himself to me. My pomchi plays with something in the laundry room, maybe it’s Roudy.
Love the story. Thanks
