Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

I remember I was twelve at the time, I sleep with a sentimental-pillow my auntie made for me when I was nine and a blanket that used to belong to my uncle. But the night this happened me and my family had gone for a small family vacation of sorts, and I’d forgotten my pillow and blanket in the rush to get to the computer and check my e-mail. My Mom and Dad left half an hour after they dropped off me and both my older siblings.

When I went to bed I remembered my blanket and pillow, both my sister and brother said that I was getting too old for them, and gave me an extra blanket and threw one of my sister’s extra pillows in my face. Grumbling I went to bed with my MP3 player on as I usually do, and I had a nightmare that this creepy doll thing, like one of those robotic Furby toys, was looking at me, asking if I wanted to play, I had said yes, and it took me to to the lake near my house, it giggled and told me to jump in, I walked to the edge of the water, and saw the water moving violently, and I knew that there where leaches and Piranah in it, but I was just about to jump in before I woke up.

I actually had one of these things as a Christmas present from my nephew who’d gotten it from a garage sale earlier that year and kept it under the stairs before hand, who knew I liked gutting out toys. So when I woke up, my parent’s had gotten back and were now sleeping, as were my brother and sister but it was too dark out to get my pillow and blanket, I took the ruined toy and put it under the bathroom sink.

I went back to sleep, it felt like only seconds but I saw the bathroom light go on and the door close, my bed room is next to the bathroom and I knew it must’ve been someone waking up to use the bathroom or something, so I tried going back to bed. Then something smaller opened and closed, then the actual door opened and remained open but the light had been switched off, but I felt like I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I went into the living room and watched TV for about two hours before I heard something like glass break. Scared I tried to ignore it and the chilling feeling I got, my cat sleeping on my lap but jumping down when he heard it too.

My big brother came up from his downstairs bedroom and asked me what broke. I told him that I didn’t know and it sounded like it came from downstairs. He went and checked in my sisters room. Her vanity mirror had shattered, it was right across from her bed, right where her head would’ve been if she were sitting up in her bed – and she hadn’t even woken up from the clatter.

The next morning I told my brother and mom about my nightmare, and the Furby, suddenly terrified that it was the creepy little thing. I went to see if it was still there, and it wasn’t. Scared, my brother blessed the house with sweet grass. But it was my dad, who’d gone out to work by then that went to get a new roll of toilet paper discovered the broken toy and threw it out.

When I told a friend of mine she said that everything had a spirit, including toys, and if you mistreated them that they would come out to hurt you or people close to you.

I’m not sure what it was that broke my sister’s mirror or gave me that creepy dream, but I’m scared of broken Mirrors.
