Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

I don’t really believe in the whole ”good ghost – bad ghost” thing but I’m pretty sure that this one was getting upset.

Okay so my cousin Kyle used to live in this house that he claimed to be haunted. Of course I never believed him. I’m wasn’t totally opposed to the whole supernatural thing, but I’ve always believed that it could be true… now I’m certain that it is.

I spent the night once at Kyle’s house about two years ago. I was actually there to hang out with his sister Katlyn. I never used to like that house, it always made me feel… uneasy. They had lived there a long time ago maybe when they were about 5 or 6. Then they moved to a different house that I was perfectly fine with, it was nice and I liked it. Then, they sold it and moved back to the old ‘haunted’ one.

They had always said that there was a ghost haunting that house. They called him “the dark man” it wasn’t very original because they were just kids. That’s because they never saw his face, all they could see was his figure which looked like a shadow.

So anyway, I’ve never really told anyone this but I spent the night there one evening. Kyle and his stepsisters, stepbrothers, and my brother were in his room, and Katlyn and I were in hers. It was the afternoon around one pm. Katlyns room doesn’t have any doors, there are three doors that all connect her stepbrothers rooms to hers, and her brothers room to hers, then there’s a staircase on the side of her room. So basically, no privacy.

Well there is this small door, about the size of a pillow that you would put on your bed. So I asked Katlyn if I could open it. She replied “No! seriously, don’t… the dark man might be in there…”  I was kind of scared but I didn’t really believe her. I was scared because she is my little cousin, about 10 but she really looked 7 or 8 and she was standing in the middle of the room almost begging me not to open the door… It looked like something you would see in a scary movie or something.

I asked what the door was and Katlyn told me that it was their attic. I wouldn’t have guessed it because it was on her wall over the staircase. So that night, after we all went to bed, or so I thought, Katlyn and I were soundly sleeping in her room when I suddenly woke up. I didn’t know why, but I just woke up. I looked at Katlyns alarm clock. It read 1:13 AM. I thought it was just a trick of the light but then I saw a shadow like figure drift across the room and seem to float through Kyle’s door and into his room. I was so frightened.

A little while later I woke up again around five o’clock in the morning but I didn’t remember falling asleep. What I did remember was watching in horror as the dark man crossed my path only about five feet away. I concluded that it was only a nightmare. I fell asleep again and woke up at around nine or ten AM.

After Kyle woke up, he came up to me and said, “Hey, Lilly! your never going to believe this! look!” He hooked his camera up to the television and pressed the ‘play’ button. I watched the green tinted screen and realized that the camera must have been put on night vision so they probably recorded last night. It showed my brother saying something along the lines of “yeah right. COME ON OUT! I DON’T BELIVE THAT YOU’RE REAL! COME ON! SHOW YOURSELF IF YOUR EVEN THERE!” then someone said, “woah did you feel that?” and then the tape ended.

I asked Kyle what it was. and he replied, “you didn’t see that? watch closely.” He pressed the rewind button and then played it in slow-motion. There was no sound but I did what he said and watched the screen carefully. Then, a white orb that looked about the size of a fist wildly flew across the screen, back and forth, in every  direction. It was moving fast and that’s why I didn’t see it the first time. I suddenly realized what had happened and looked at the bottom right corner of the TV screen. The time was 1:14 AM. The video had been taken one minute after I saw the shadow drift past me.

I knew then that what I had saw was not a nightmare, but in fact it was very real. I was 11 then, now I’m 13. I recently learned that a priest and a little girl had been found dead in the backyard. I take this experience with me and I take supernatural things very seriously now. But that’s not the only thing that had happened in that house… there was that one night in the basement… but that’s a different story…
