It all started when I was in grade 5. We were in the living room, watching television when mom got up to cook dinner, usually father cooked for dinner but he decided to take a week of vacation to his mother’s house. My sister and I were the only one’s left in the living room when we heard two knocks on the door. Because I was the closest one to the door and the one who usually opens it, I got up and opened the door in a hurry. I met a cold breeze that broke in front of me. I froze for a second then I heard mom scolding me “you should first look at the window, what if it was a stranger? Remember to open the door only if the knocks you heard counts up to three.” I nodded and went back to sit beside my sister. We both felt goosebumps and kept glaring at each other. Mom was also bothered that she asked some of our neighbors if they saw someone knocked in our door. But they said they never saw anybody and if there was someone it’s impossible that they wouldn’t see it when they were drinking sake just outside our gate. Mom concluded that maybe we just heard knocks from our neighbors. We never told mom that it couldn’t be someone because we know it came from outside our door. After dinner we settled ourselves and slept in the living room.
It was almost midnight when I woke up again. The air inside felt so warm that I got up to turn on the electric fan. As I’m going back to sleep I happened to look out of the window and to my surprise I saw a creature with wings like a bat and the body of a half human. Her eyes blazing like fire and I could clearly see her fangs. Both saliva and blood falling from her mouth to our jalousies. Because I was so afraid I could hardly mutter something, I lay back in a hurry and embraced mom. After a few seconds I heard continuous flapping of wings then it was all gone. I peeped above mom’s shoulder and sighed when it was all gone. I woke up mom after that and asked her to embrace me I quickly fall asleep after that.
Then I woke up again. It was still night and mom and Tin, my sister, were nowhere to be found. The door was wide open so was the gate and some of the lights. I freaked out. They left me alone! I started to cry while checking the two other rooms. Then I heard some footsteps coming from the door in the living room and two feminine voices. I ran out just to find out that it was my older cousins Rhomalyn and Rocel. They said mom moved to aunt Lisa because she was scared.
After locking the doors and turning off the lights in the house we set foot to aunt Lisa’s house. As we were walking side by side I told them the “thing” that scared mother and they freaked out, running ahead of me. I ran and followed them but stopped for no reason when I came to pass by the old mango tree. Then my eyes caught something, a girl in long black hair wearing a white dress stretched her hands toward me muttering something that I couldn’t understand. I ran as fast as I could still giving it some look and finding out the girl was still there. Now my vision was much clearer, around her neck was a rope tied around the branch of the tree. When I stay in touch of my cousins I quickly told them what I saw and we run away as fast as we could holding each others hand.
