Can a Heightened Sixth Sense be Genetic?

My first experience with this genetic gift/curse:

When I was seven years old I lived in an extremely old house, probably built in the early 1900′s. My sister, who is three years younger than me, and I shared a room with bunk beds. She had the bottom bunk, and I had the top (since she was only four and it was hard for her to get in the top bunk). One night, in early December I woke up to my sister screaming in the night, due to a nightmare. I climbed into her bed and she quickly fell back asleep.

It was very windy out side and a tree branch kept taping the window along the side of the bed, as annoying as this was I eventually fell back asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night, or at least thought I woke up, to the tree branch tapping the window. I looked over at the window, and …
