Strange Things

Posted on June 16, 2010

Hi there! I found this site a few days ago and I read quite a few stories and after a while wanted to share my own experiences. I often feel that I’m pretty alone in what I’ve been going through my whole life and frankly I don’t like to talk about these things to people other then my family and VERY close friends. I feel though, after reading many of your stories, I might be understood better here.

My first experience with the paranormal happened when I was incredibly young. Young enough that I had no idea really what was going on. I wasn’t ever a really outgoing type of person growing up, but it didn’t keep me from making many friends. I was able to..eh I guess ‘sense’ things about others and their feelings and for that reason I think people have been drawn to me. Even now it’s like this (trust me this has a point).

Anyways, about my first encounter with a spirit. I guess it all started with my old house. My little sister was just a little baby at the time and I had a room all to myself. Well, like most young kids I liked to cuddle up and sleep with my parents every now and then. I usually slept pretty good I always felt safe and like nothing could get me as long as they were around. Well, that night I felt like something was wrong. Something was off about a certain area of the room. I felt like I was being watched. I remember the feeling vividly. I didn’t want to sleep in my own room because I felt that if I did whatever was scaring me would just follow me and then I would be alone with it. So I attempted to sleep in the middle told my parents I was frightened, but my dad being a war veteran simply rolled his eyes and had me sleep on the end of the bed where I felt the strange feeling telling me it was nothing. I wanted to be brave so I didn’t put up a fight with him. I simply closed my eyes and turned my back on whatever it was thinking that if I did it would just go away.

It didn’t. Sometime during the night I woke up, I’m still not sure why I did it. Well, when I did I felt like something was standing beside the bed. I didn’t want to turn and look, but like I said I wanted to be brave. I hated being so scared, not only that but I was pretty curious. So, I look behind me and there standing there at the side of the bed staring at me is a HUGE growling dog. Now, yes I had a dog then but she was put outside at night. This thing was not my dog I knew this for a fact. The strange thing is I felt completely numb as I was lying there looking at it look right back at me. I don’t know how long I stared at it, but I quickly closed my eyes and turned to look away from it. I did not like it, but still that feeling of numbness was there. After a few minutes or so I felt that the feeling that I was scared of slowly vanished, and I looked back to see that the dog or whatever was gone. Another strange thing I did was get out of bed and look around the room and parts of the house for it. I guess I was in a state of shock or something I don’t know. It was just gone.

Well, the years go by and I grew up more. I put that night out of my mind. (I went to a very religious private school when I was little and thing like that were frowned upon when you spoke about things like that; they were incredibly strict so I kept quiet). Over the years more strange things happened that were never as vivid to me as that dog was until I moved into my new house.

Now, this was a brand new house nothing frightened me about it when we first moved in, but that all soon changed. One night, my sister and I were playing in our room and the radio suddenly came on and we both jumped a little startled by it, but we just laughed it off, turned it off, and continued playing. Then it turned on again and around this time we were both wondering  if maybe something was wrong with it. We checked the back and everything. Nothing. I made some joke about ‘maybe there is a ghost and they want to listen to the radio’. The stupid thing turned on again as if to mock me and the volume went about as high as it would go. I unplugged it and we both ran out of the room as frightened as can be.

A few days later we put it out of our mind and were playing in the room again, this time there was these tiny remote controlled cars that had come on by themselves why we were playing this time. We both got pretty rattled again and I shut them off and tossed them to the other side of the room. Note that these things were off. The cars suddenly came on again and my sister and decided we were sleeping in the living room that night.

So, we did. That night we sat in the dark and watched a movie trying to calm ourselves down do fall asleep. I suddenly hear something whisper my name, I glance back and nothing is there so I figured I was hearing things because of that whole car thing earlier. This was not the first time I heard these whispers by the way, ever since that dog thing, maybe earlier then that, I’ve heard them. Like I usually did when I heard this type of thing, I tried to ignore it. It worked until I heard it again and this time out of the corner of my eye I spotted a strange black shadow in the hall way walking from my new baby brother’s room (somewhere around that area) and to my sister’s and my room. I quickly shook my sister and woke her up and told her about it and she and I quickly ran to my parents room and told them. My mom and dad, half asleep, scolded me for scaring my sister and told us to go back to sleep.

That wasn’t the last time I encountered these things. As I grew up in that house, many things happened and I told my family every time and they at least seemed to pretended to understand, but I felt so alone. Like I was going crazy and was the only one that witnessed all these things.

That was all until my own mom and sister witnessed things too.

Now, to tell my mothers encounter I need to tell you what happened to me first. Well, I was in my parents bathroom taking a bath of course, (it is a huge bath it’s really nice). Up till this occurrence I’m about to tell you, I loved using it instead of the dinky one in the “kids” bathroom that we had. Anyways, what happened was I was looking down into the water and playing with the bubbles and moving them this way and that having fun. I look down and have to take a double take because there is a man’s face looking back at me and just smiling, I could still see my own reflecting staring back to. Safe to say I got out of there really quick and still to this day refused to use that bathroom.

As for my mom’s story. A few days after I told her, she kind-of laughed about it and said I was just imagining things). Well, she was in there taking a bath and all of a sudden I see her dart out of her room (the bathroom was connected) with a terrified expression on her face. She told me she heard something call out to her and then my dog started going crazy and barking into this walk in closet she had in the bathroom. I was frightened, but at the same time I felt like a huge weight had lifted off my shoulders. FINALLY, someone other then me were witnessing these things. I started to think maybe I wasn’t going crazy.

My sisters story also gave me the same feeling. Her’s was about her coming out of the shower and going to our room to change. Well, there in a chair sat a little girl in what seemed old styled clothes sitting in a chair in our room. She told me it was about to turn around, but she ran out of the room as quickly as she could. We were alone in the house at the time, and when she came out, (still with the towel on), she sat down on the couch next to me with a wide eyed blank look on her face as she stared off into nothing. I noticed she was shaking too. It took me hours to get her to tell me what happened. We started more frequently sleeping in the living room after that.

Well, the years went by and my parents got a divorce. Now here I am I live with my dad right now and even now in this new house I see and hear things. By now I’m pretty used to them. Finally, one day my mother sat me down and opened up to me about how the all the woman from her family are what some people call, sensitives. Sensitives can feel energy and give off a certain something that I was told spirits are attracted to. She explained it to me a little, but now I can understand a little more about why all this has been happening to me and still does to this day. I still get startled by it, but I’m slowly starting pretty used to it now. I still have many occurrences to tell, but I figured I wrote enough all ready for now.

Things have been pretty docile lately. The worst is sometimes I hear something walking in the hall way leading to my room, (a lot of other people have heard it to. Even those outside my family.) Then I get the usual whispering of my name and other things too. Although, my sister told me something unsettling the other day. She said she saw that black shadow figure again in our old room. Why is that unsettling? Well, when I moved out of that house things stopped happening there and I seriously thought that thing left for one thing. I have more to tell you guys about that room and shadow thing, but it will have to wait until later.

I’m a little nervous telling my experiences to all of you still. Just please note I’m not making any of this up even though I really wish I was. It’s one of the reasons I didn’t put up my real name.

One last thing before I end this though. I was wondering if there was any more experienced sensitives out there that could tell me how they cope with everything? I’m in my twenties now, and I’m still slowly starting to get used to this whole thing, but I’m just wondering if there is any tips out there or anything you could give me? Thank you so much! Take care.
