Something in My House Goolerei in Afrikaans

Posted on January 7, 2011

I come from South Africa and I’m a white male 19 years old. I’m just starting of my adult life and I’m renting a 3 bedroom house. I’ve been living here for 3 months now and weird things and I mean really weird things just started happening.

About the third night I stayed in the house I heard loads of things falling out of the boxes (the boxes my things were in as I was moving) and scared I went to see what it was and two of my boxes was turned over and everything in it was all over the place and while in that room I was so cold and it is still summer.

I didn’t think much of it because I have a cat so maybe my cat was just playing or something so went back to sleep. The next morning when I woke up my cats food was laying all over the place everywhere to be honest I think it was in each and every room so like any human being I scolded my cat.

About a week went by nothing happened then one night I had two friends over. My one friend went to the bathroom and when she was finished we heard her knocking on the door because it was stuck. We struggled about 5 minutes to pull the door open and she was so scared when she got out she said it was so cold in there.

That same night we were watching a movie and at about 11 pm I think we went to the kitchen for something to drink and all of us saw my kitchen door slam shut behind us and a pan was pushed from the counter. For the sake of it we agreed that it was the wind to calm our nerves but I knew something was wrong because wind cant push a pan off a counter.

One night me and my girlfriend were just laying in bed she was reading and I was watching TV and my cat was lying by our feet when suddenly she just got agro making weird noses staring at the door. When I looked at the door I saw a shadow running away I was scared like I’ve never been.

A few days after that I was on the internet just checking emails when I felt someone gently trying to push me of the chair I freaked and screamed then it stopped and then one day I was spring cleaning I found a snake skin and a pigs hove hidden away on the top of my railing above my window and I asked my maid if she knows anything about it. She said no and I never saw her again so I went online and searched what happened to me and I found out that its called goolerei in Afrikaans its what black witchdoctors do to curse people and when I removed the snake skin and pigs feet everything stopped.

I’m just happy no one got hurt

Where in South Africa do you stay? I’m living in S.A too! Did you ever see the maid again? Did you check the entire house and yard for any other items she may have left? Just glad you are okay and nothing happened to you! :)

anyway just for warning sakes NEVER EVER leave your nail clippings around either burn them or flush down the toilet, clean your hair brushes dont leave it around for ppl to find burn or flush too.
its a true story what happened to my friends mother when she was a child!!!
they were middle class and one day things went bad for months they had the worst of luck, and someone said that vodoo was cast on thier house hold so they got in a samgoma
and she told them to dig in front of the gate at the entrance to thier property and they found nail clippings, once they got rid of it everything stopped but sadly the damage was done.
    so keep safe! (”,)
