Sadie My Warrior

Posted on May 20, 2011

Sadie was a 3 year old wolf-malamute-keeshond mix. (Note this happened 4 years ago. I’m now 14.). I was 10 years old so you can imagine the size of Sadie compared to me. But she was a big teddy bear.

Sadie loved to chase the school bus whenever I would leave. She thought it was taking me forever. But luckily the rails separating the yard from the road kept her in the yard. That was until 4 days before school ended.

I had just walked up my driveway and Sadie was walking happily behind me. I had just gotten onto the bus, an we started going and I heard Sadie barking but I didn’t see her running along the rail as usual. All of a sudden the bus bumped twice and the barking stopped. We all looked back and I screamed as I saw my dog laying on the road. But my bus driver wouldn’t stop.

I had to go the whole day knowing my dog was now gone… I found out someone had poisoned my dog. The poison caused her to become confused and messed up her brain (Causing the accident).

About a month after that, a man that lived behind the woods reported being bitten and attacked by a husky like dog. The woods that me and Sadie used to go walking in all the time. He said it came out of no-where and jumped for his arm. Ripping and tearing at his jacket, then running off and what seemed like to “disappear”.

Then 4 days after the incident with the man, I was in my kitchen and I heard the click-click of nails on wood floor. But I didn’t have any other animals. So I called out Sadie’s name. And I heard the jingle of tags. Then everything just stopped… And then the click-click went over to the doorway. I looked and there was Sadie sitting in the doorway looking at me. I could see right through her. I just stared and then she just trotted off and disappeared. I whispered “I love you Sadie. You’re my warrior.” And I still hear her barking and the click-click of her nails occasionally.
