Paranormal Sleep Paralysis

Posted on December 15, 2010

I have been experiencing sleep paralysis for probably 3 years now. I’m almost 18. I can’t remember the specifics of the first time it happened, but I know it scared me. I still experience it, usually every 1-3 months, but it used to be every other week.

When it happens, I can feel myself start to doze off, which is strange in itself for me, because sleep usually comes very slow to me, and I never feel it coming, except during these dreams, or whatever they are. I feel my eyelids growing heavy and as soon as they close, I fall into a dream like state.

I have read lots of stories about sleep paralysis and the hallucinations people sometimes have, but my experience is always different from everything I read. For one, the paralysis begins as soon as my eyes close and I “fall asleep”. I don’t know if my eyes are actually open or not, but I can always see everything at times like this. My house looks exactly as it did before I “fell asleep”.

I cannot move, I can hardly breathe, and I feel an ominous presence. Another difference from all the paranormal sleep paralysis stories I have read is that it feels like I am being pulled from my bed, where as everyone else describes it as being held or pushed down. The pulling feeling is horrifying, and I try with all my might to resist it. while I cannot move, I am still able to physically resist the pull. I’m not sure  how I do it, but it requires total focus and all my willpower.

I fight for everything I have to wake up, and I can feel myself fading in and out as I resist the pull of the entity and sleep. Often times I will succeed in awakening, only to fall back asleep and do it all again.

Sometimes, I cannot wake myself up, and a figure appears. I cannot see him with my eyes, but I know he is there. My mind even projects a translucent image of the figure. He is average size, standing 3 or 4 feet away. He wears a robe darker than the darkness of the room, and I can never see anything of his face. Just a blackness indescribable in nature. A blackness that makes night look like a florescent lightbulb. He appears to be floating, and no hands or feet are visible. The best way I can describe him is the Grim reaper without a scythe. The pulling feeling is always there though, even before he appears.

He has never spoken, never beaconed, but I can feel him pulling me towards him, wanting something. He never comes closer to me, but only tries to bring me closer to him. a constant, empty pull. Somehow I know that if I were to give in, something horrible would happen. I have always managed to wake myself up though, and I stay up the rest of the night, because I know as soon as I close my eyes again, that he will be there waiting.

Once, about a year ago, while having one of these episodes, before the figure appeared, I saw my mom walk past my bed to check on my little brothers. I was unable to move or say anything, so she must have just thought I was asleep. What confuses me about this is that I had always thought my eyes were physically closed during the nightmares, or whatever they are.

The most disturbing part about the whole thing is that the demon, or whatever it is, has moved me. During one paranormal sleep paralysis session, I felt it pull me out of my bed, and the next thing I knew I was in the middle of the living room floor, and he was still there, still pulling. I fought myself awake, to find I really was in my living room. I went and sat on the couch the rest of the night, listening to music until the sun rose, fighting for my life to stay awake.

Ever since I met my girlfriend, the nightmares have become less frequent. Going from once every other week to once every 2-3 months. I have told her about everything, and together we concluded that the demon or spirit or whatever it is came from my previous spite and hatred. before I met her, I had little to no love in my life, as I am detached from most of my family, and I have nothing but pure hatred for my father (I still do).

As everyone knows, demons are born from hate, and there has been plenty of that in my house. Perhaps the demon is trying to possess me or something of that nature? I only wonder how I have been able to fight it off.

With the love and encouragement from my girlfriend, I have been having these nightmares less and less. The day before yesterday however, I had the dream again. I was able to wake myself up before the demon showed up, but fell back asleep instantly. After fighting it some more, I woke again, and got out of bed before it could happen again. I stayed awake for a few hours before falling asleep again, but the paralysis did not return.

I believe that the love I have for my girlfriend is weakening the demon, because most of the time it is easier to awaken from the dreams than it was before I met her, and they are much less frequent.

Additionally, my girlfriend told her mom about my nightmares, and her mom got goosebumps, for she too had had nightmares like my own when she was my age. hers were different, as she never saw a figure.

So that is my story. I wish I knew exactly where the demon came from and what he wants, but for now I only have my theories. If anyone has had any similar experiences, or has been able to talk to their demon, comment and let me know. Maybe your information can help.
