When I was about, oh 13 or 14 years old we lived in a very old house – over 100 year old – up in northern Minnesota.

I went to a different school than my brothers and my momma didn’t get home till about 6:30. When I would get home from school I would sit and watch T.V.

One day after I got home I was watching T.V when our bathroom door shut and locked. Then the bath water would start running and I could hear a mother singing to her kids (you could hear that it was more then one kid) and they must have been like really young kids. I was so scared I ran outside. I was outside till about 5 and when I went back in the doors were unlocked and the bath was just draining.

When I was little my mother and I, who was only 18 when I was born, lived with her father in the house he and his wife, my grandmother, had lived in when she was alive. I’d never met my grandmother because she died two years before I was born. I had only seen pictures of her.

When I was about 8 my mother was making me lunch in the kitchen and my grandfather was in the back yard working on his garden. I was in the living room, playing and waiting for my mother to finish making my lunch. I didn’t “feel” anything, but I sensed someone was watching me. I was 10 yrs old and my brother’s grandma had just passed away. My brother and I have the same dad but different mom’s so she wasn’t my grandma.

About 4 or 5 years ago, my Grandfather died of frightfulness. Before the minute he died, we heard him shout, “You can hurt me, but don’t hurt my granddaughter!” I cried just after his death. The Haunted Stanley Hotel of Estes Park

Did you see Stephen King’s The Shining? The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado (About 45 minutes away from Boulder) was King’s inspiration for the movie. The hotel has been reported to be haunted be a few ghosts.

The Shining wasn’t shot at the hotel even though many people think it was. When King began work on the novel he actually locked himself up in room number 217.

When the Stanley Hotel opened it’s doors in 1909 it was the only hotel anywhere in the world to have electric power. The hotel was originally owned by Lord Dunraven and was later sold to Stanley Steamer inventor F. Stanley.

The ghost of Lord Dunraven has been reported to haunt the 4th floor. A lot of ghost activity has been reported near the bathroom door of room number 407. Hotel guests have also reported hearing child ghosts playing and laughing in the 4th floor hallway.

Julian Lennon says he has been contacted by his father’s ghost. While Julian was participating in an ancient Australian Aboriginal ceremony the tribe leader gave him a white feather. The white feather held a very significant meaning for Julian.

John Lennon had told his son that if he ever died to keep watch for a white feather. John said that it would be a sign for Julian, to let him know that he was there and looking out for him.

Many stories have been written and told that deal with pets and ghosts. A lot of stories are about pets who have come “back from the grave” to interact with the living.

I once read about a returning soldier who was saved from drowning by his old faithful German Shepherd. He had to walk the last few miles to the house. It happened to be very dark in a strong wind and rain storm. Along the way he was met up by his old dog. That dog showed up just as he was about to cross a bridge and did everything it could to stop him. He eventually gave in and followed the dog up to the next bridge went across and headed on home. Somewhere along the way the dog disappeared. He assumed that it had went on home.
