Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

I am 31 years old and I am from the Philippines. Well, I like reading the stories from this site coz I really can relate. Not that I am the type of person who see ghosts every time but me and my siblings also had a share of these creepy experiences. I will share some of the most unforgettable. It happened mostly in the province where we grew up. Our house was one area for use during the WWII and some Japanese soldiers died in our lot.

My experience

It happened when I was 10 years old, I shared a room with my sister at that time. One night at around 10 o’clock, I was already in bed when I saw my sister come inside the room and proceeded to her bed. Her bed is adjacent to mine by the way. I was convinced it was her but she walked just straight and didn’t talk to me. So what I did, I rose to lock the door. Then I went back to my bed and started talking about the happenings during the day. I have been talking quite a while like for 15 minutes, suddenly I realized that I was alone in the room. I look to my sister’s bed and she wasn’t there. But it couldn’t be possible coz when I checked the door, it was locked and  locking the door could only be done inside the room. Out of fear, I ran out of the room to see my sister watching TV in the living room.  So I asked her if she had been in the bedroom. And her answer was a flat NO. If it wasn’t her, who could it be?

My brother’s experience

Our bathroom in my province where we grew up was a little old fashioned coz it was located 5 meters outside of our house. The bathroom and toilet were built side by side.I was always scared to pee every night coz on that area, the fluorescent light wouldn’t work and sometimes we don’t get it fixed for a month and it was very dark there. But anyway, it was my brother who always see ghosts there and not me. Several times, when he goes there to use the toilet at around 3am, he would pass by the bathroom and would notice a tall man standing there wearing a white shirt and was staring down at him. My brother could not see his face clearly only his eyes. And he couldn’t see this man’s legs, its as if he was floating. And even if he knew he is a ghost, my brother says good evening to this person as he is not scared. My bother is very religious, in fact he studied for priesthood. He knew that this ghost just wanted his prayers. Not only does this ghost appear to him there but two times, my brother saw an old woman with long flowing grey hair standing opposite the toilet at dawn also looking at him.

My sister’s experience

The sister I mentioned earlier is among us, the one who sees ghosts the most. One time, it was the year 2001 and we were in our junior and  senior years in college. It was All Souls Day in the Philippines and normally, people would visit the cemeteries to remember the dead. It was just me and my sister who were in the apartment we rented. All our neighbors went to the cemeteries.

During this time also, the 7-door apartments had problem with the water system and the owner was still trying to fix the pipes. So my sister had to get out of the house and walk 15 meters to fetch a pail of water for bathing from a temporary faucet they installed outside. While she was filling the pails, a guy who seemed 18 years of age approached her but he didn’t talk. It was around 5 o’clock in the afternoon and it was still daytime outside so that my sister saw him very well. With hands in his pocket, this guy just stood beside my sister as if he was waiting for her to finish but he looked very friendly. When she finished, she walked back to our apartment carrying the pail. She looked back and saw that the guy was watching her. But she was beginning to have doubts and feel a little creepy about it. Why is this guy in the vicinity when she thought that everyone of our neighbors weren’t there? Besides, its the first time that she saw him. But there was no new neighbor around and the apartments were built exclusively surrounded by a tall wall with only one big gate for entry and  exit.

I remember her coming back and describing to me this new face which I didn’t give much attention. The next day, we asked our woman neighbor if she noticed a guy with this description. The woman looked at us with a silly grin. No there wasn’t anyone in the vicinity of that description, she said. Actually, me and my sister were alone in the area. But there used to be a guy who lived on the third door who hanged himself in a tree in front of his girlfriend’s house in 1998. Every year on All Saints day, one of the residents would see his ghost in the area and he looked so much like when he was alive. That year, it was just my sister’s luck. The clothes he wore when my sister saw him was exactly the one he wore when he died.
