Ouija Board Terror

Posted on November 4, 2008

When I was about 16 or so me and my friend decided to stay up all night and toy with a Ouija board. She got it from a friend of hers because the friend said she had freaky experiences with the board ( a shadow of a man in her granny’s basement or something). Anyway, we tried it and it worked! We were psyched! It was the coolest thing ever. We showed it to all our friends and had everyone try it and it always worked! No one doubted us because if they did we’d give them a try.

After a few days we (me and my friend) became obsessed with the thing, calling it by it’s name and treating it like a “person” and talking to it non stop. When we weren’t playing with it, it would mess up the TV or something like that to get our attention. It was always with us.

We both started to feel drained after awhile, cranky and sluggish, even towards each other. In fact, she got mad at me once for throwing “him” on the floor when I was hiding the board from someone once. It was crazy.

Anyway, one day when she had it with her and I was at home she called me frantically about the board. She said “he” wouldn’t leave her alone. She had to play with him and for the first time ever it worked with just one person, her. She was freaking out because it spelled out my name and for me to get over there or something like that. It spelled out a name of a person in my family’s life that was dangerous. (I can’t get into that whole issue.)

I rushed over there to see what was so important and it spelled out that my mom was going to die and gave a date. Then it spelled out that I was going to die and gave a date two months after her date. We were going to be murdered by the dangerous man. I started to cry and asked it how I was going to die if I’d already been told things about my future and it spelled out in plain English, “I guess I f-ed up jessica w******** life.” I got hysterical and so did my friend.

I called my mom and she set up an appointment for me to see a psychic she knew. We went the next day and she explained to me that we opened a window and we didn’t know what we were dealing with (duh). She explained that a Ouija board is a vessel the “other side” can use to interact with us and that it wasn’t always a good thing. You can bring anything over because there isn’t a way to filter it.

By the way, I had been told if you ask the spirit if they are from God they cannot lie. This is false. I asked that and it beat around the bush for awhile and then said yes. Christ’s name alone can not protect you, at least not in that way. Anyway, she told me I had to “clean” every place we played. This was a lot of places because we took it everywhere with us. My sister’s whole apartment complex, my mom’s front and back yard, and my friend’s whole house, especially her basement where it all started.

The cleansing consisted of burning sage, white candles, a few prayers, and it was like chanting. I know we looked crazy to people watching us do this (me and my mom, she’s great) but I didn’t care and neither did she.  We did get rid of it, whatever it was.

p.s. When the board said that, we drove all around town tearing up the board and throwing it out the window in little pieces, it was so horrible. I didn’t know what else to do! I hope people learn from this story and do not experiment with these sort of things. You want a spiritual experience, meditate!

That is soooo weird! I’ll never mess around with one of those.

  2. Ken says:

I had a similar story to yours only I moved away from the apartment were it happened. I was not the one to play with it my friends used to dabble with the board. Im glad I never tried it.

  3. SpiritHunter411 says:

that must have been pretty scary i know i would never rest if it said my family or myself was in danger i hope you all are fine and happy! bye!

  4. ghost_girl says:

Ouija boards are very dangerous, to everyone. I know I dont want to use one.

  5. Jen says:

    well hope everything worked out

  6. Warrior Priestess says:

Oh Jessi, you are absolutely right about the Name of Jesus not helping with a ouija-board, i know this better than anyone.. I had an expirience just like yours, only mine was a little worse. (But i guess worse or better would be a matter of opinion) O-Boards lie somethin terrible, all they do is get you hooked into relying on them, and then they screw with you. Also youre right about you last statement, if you want a spiritual expirience meditate. There are also other ways to have good spiritual-expiriences besides meditating too… Also, tearing it into peices and driving around throwing the peices isnt a very good idea, think of all the lives youve put in danger in throwing fragments of something foul onto their property, who was it that told you to do this? Also, i would have to dissagree with the Psychic on a few things. The Ouija-Board was invented by Witches and other (Dark-Souled people) to talk to the “Spirits beyond” In the same way the Winchester-Mystery-House was designed by a mad-woman who was tormented by Demons. The only thing you can talk to 99.99% of the time is Demons and Negaive Spirits, via O-Board. the other 1% is when a strong and good spirit comes through to tell you to Stop.
How old are you now, how long ago did you go through the procedure of disposing of the board? Has anything happened afterward?

  7. anonynous says:

I know and had experiences like this, lots of them, but your story is very familiar

  8. Aj says:

I have learned from experience the best way to rid oneself of a Ouija board is to burn it. The negative spirits will really mess with your whole being. It likes to consume your whole life, keeping you coming back for more and more. Feeding off your fear of the unknown it gains power from your fear. I will never touch one again I have had way too many bad experiences to ever think of playing with one again. Never ever play one by yourself that is really dangerous. When playing with one you never know who you will be inviting into your life, but 9 times out 10 whoever comes through it not who you want to mess with.
Hope everything is fine now with you Good luck
    Aj

  9. Tiara says:

Its weird cause i have one but i dont play it cuz it kinda creeps me out my friends always wanna play it but i can’t stand or have enough guts to play it .

  10. Jackie says:

Anyone who plays with the O-board is taking a big risk. My very first experience with one worked and gave proof, i was later attacked by something i couldn’t see and only a prayer to God helped me.

Anyone who has one, get rid of it now, I honestly tell you, they ARE dangerous, trust me on that.

Don’t believe what it said about you and your mum dying, they lie and nothing that evil has been given the gift of knowing the future of good humans. Don’t worry!!

  11. Cheryl says:

I had my own experience with a Ouija board..and let me tell you, it is NOT a game. Years later, I actually met a man in real life with the exact same name as whatever was coming thru that board. Coincidence? Maybe.

The thing in the board introduced himself initially as “:Brian Jameson Ferris”, not a name you can just conjure up to scare your playmates. He said he was the spirit of a New Orleans gambler and had some interesting stories to tell.

Interesting? That is a matter of opinion.

Bizarre things began to happen as we became more and more obsessed with the narrative of the board.

I won’t go into detail since it is still horrifying 40 years later….and I don’t want to take the chance of inviting him back!

    Stay away from the board!!!!

  12. valery(a.k.a Izzy) says:

jessi it is best if you never do that i know you wont do it again because oly dumb people would do it anyway if you need any help just look at some websites that have some explenations about ouija boards like this website graveaddiction.com ! sorry fo the errors

  13. ANTONIA says:

JESSI HOPE EVERYTHING IS GREAT IN YOUR LIFE NOW!!! WHEN I WAS 16 I ALSO HAD ONE OF THEM BOARDS. A LOT OF WEIRD THINGS HAPPENED TO ME. PEOPLE TOLD ME TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME AND I DIDN’T BELIEVE THEM. I USED TO BELIEVE THAT WHY WOULD THIS GAME BE SOLD IN STORES IF KIDS WEREN’T SUPPOSE TO PLAY WITH IT??? 16 YEARS OLD YOU DON’T HAVE THE MATURITY TO THINK AS YOU WOULD IF YOU WERE 30. ANYWAY BECAUSE OF ALL THE STRANGE THINGS HAPPENING WITH ME THEN I STOPPED PLAYING AND NO MATTER WHAT I DID MY MIND WAS ALWAYS ON ONE LAST TIME.. I HAD THE STRENGTH TO STOP THOUGH. SINCE THEN IT’S BEEN 22 YEARS AND THERE HASN’T BEEN A DAY WHERE I HAVEN’T THOUGHT OF GIVING IT A TRY. BUT THANK GOD MY MOTHER THREW IT AWAY BACK THEN. CAUSE IF SHE HADN’T I MIGHT HAVE STARTED OVER AGAIN. IT’S SOMETHING LIKE TAROT CARDS. THEY ARE FREAKY AS WELL. I USED TO SPEND HOURS ON THEIR READINGS SO MUCH THAT I BECAME AN EXPERT. I COULD ONLY SEE THE FUTURE FOR OTHERS NOT MY OWN. ONE NIGHT I HAD A DREAM OF THE VIRGIN MARY CRYING AND PLEADING ME TO STOP WITH THE READINGS. THE NEXT MORNING I BURNT THEM IN THE FIREPLACE. I LEARNED A BIG LESSON!! INSTEAD OF DOING ALL THESE UNNATURAL THINGS WITH OUR MIND PRAY AND THANK OUR LORD JESUS FOR EACH DAY IN OUR LIVES AND SPREAD LOVE TO EVERYONE AROUND YOU. I’VE FOUND PEACE WITH MYSELF.

  14. Tiarne says:

My mother always told/tells me never to mess with a Ouija Board, cause when she was about 16 or so she had a few friends over and they brang an O-Board, of corse she had nothing to do with it and as she left the room, as the other were playing with it, she called it a “stupid little board” and then a glass bottle was thrown at her, only just missing her. Just from my mum telling me that i don’t think i even want to go near one.

  15. Mandy says:

This is very true. A long time ago there were 4 girls playing with this and they all died in 4 different ways in less than a month.

  16. lala trevors says:

Jessica i would be scared if i were u too. Once my brother played with a ouija board i was soo scared me and my friend stood outside of the door while him and his friends played. When they left the room they locked the board in the closet, when we left no one else was in the house. When we all went back in there the ouija board was on the bed and open. The board had the pieces where my brothers and his friends had left off. Unfortunately, they started to play the game again and this time the spirits shut the door for them and the dresser moved in front of the door. My brother attempted to leave but his friends said that he was a scaredey cat. My brother responded ” i don’t care, this is dangerous im leaving”. My brother moved the dresser form in front of the door and walked outside and that was the end of that. We were glad that none of the spirits came to haunt my brother but it did haunt his younger friend and he ended up getting hurt and sent to hospital, because of one of the spirits he had conjured told him that he was going to get severely hurt in the next 3 days. Obviously it came true. This is a warning to all people that hasn’t experienced the ouija board [PLEASE] do not play with this dangerous thing we call the OUIJA board.

  17. Tom says:

I know a guy named Greg, that told me this story. This happened to him several year’s ago. One evening, he decided to go and stop by the home of a married couple that were both long time friend’s of his. The man and woman were in their living room, playing around with a brand new ouija board that they had just bought. They asked him to play along with them, so he did. About an hour, or so had passed, and nothing really happened, so they quit playing, and Greg decided to go home. They exchanged goodbye’s, and he exited through the front door of the house. He was almost to his car that was parked just a few feet away from the front of the house, when he heard a horrifying scream of a woman, that seemed to come from inside of the house that he had just walked out of. Thinking that it was his friends wife that had screamed, he ran in a panic back to the front door of the house, opened it, and ran inside. They were both sitting safely in the living room, where he had just seen them only seconds before. Completely shocked of his frantic return into the house, They asked him what was wrong, and he told them of the terrible scream he had just heard. Their puzzled reply was, that nobody in the house had screamed, nor did they hear screaming of any kind. Once again they exchanged goodbye’s, and Greg was on his way. During his dark, night time rural drive home, Greg looks into his rearview mirror, and sees a black cloaked figure, following close behind of his vehicle. Thinking he was just seeing thing’s, he looks away, wipes his eye’s, and looks again, The figure was still there. Still thinking that the darkness was just playing trick’s with his eye’s, he arives into town, only to find that the town light’s didn’t change a thing, the figure was still following him. He arrives at his home, and as he gets out of his vehicle, he hears the same terrifying scream, that he heard several minutes before, at his friend’s house. Hearing the scream’s, and sighting’s of the black cloaked figure continued haunting him for about a year and a half. That was his first, and last time using the ouija board.

  18. Charley says:

I am shocked about how many people think that the ouija board is a game!!!!
If these boards are used in the correct manner, with protection, then they are safe to use. Not once have i had a bad experience with one.
These boards are not games and not to be used under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
It also helps to cleanse such boards regularly.
Being spiritual myself, i have found the board to confirm things for myself and others, and actually find peace.
If you do the ouija board incorrectly or negatively, then you can only expect negativity, its not just about the glass moving, or a GAME!
Love and light to you all

  19. leanne says:

Iam myself a claivoyant/medium, and iam shocked at what ive read. This ouija board or tarot cards or any other form of spirit comunication is not a game, you wouldnt go into a toy shop and buy a ouija board. It is through people like this that i and people like me have to go into houses that need cleansing because somone that hasnt got a clue how to use or protect themselves or they are drunk. As lead medium for a paranormal club we often the ouija board with great sucess. Anything to do with spirits/paranormal isnt to be used by anyone without proper protection, if i didnt protect myself i wouldnt have sucess in comunicating with spirits from the light, this is not a toy and shouldnt be treated as such and should only be used with a medium present.

  20. Jackie says:

    Hi leane,
people use them as games because they are sold in toy stores, which is still unbelievable to me and like you i think it is so weird.

  21. Cassandra says:

my aunt once played with one with her friend lisa.she was outside playing wth it and she heard loud footsteps and on the fence a light shone on the words stop.to this day i wonder who or what it was bu i dont think id like to find out.

  22. elyse says:

my stepmom had a close encounter with a quiji board. After her and a friend played it the smell of death was in every part of the house. They had a women ghost standing in their kitchen opening and closing cabinets. They tried to get rid of the quiji board and they couldn’t. They through it away and it ended up back in her closet. They ripped it up and it some how ended up back in her closet all in one piece. Finally they had a priest come and bless the house and they burn the board. After that no more death smell, the women was gone and they never saw the quiji board again. I played once with my sister when i was a kid and ever since then i have had spirits around me. i will never play again!!!

  23. some die of sickness, others die of a broken heart says:

this is a good story and antonia your story is amazing

  24. Allegiance says:

I learned from my ouija board “experiments”, not to take it for granted once as well. My friend and i had been using the board a few times before and nothing scary happened. We were in my basement and we thought we were talking to her deceased grandmother… We were asking it stupid questions. The spirit seemed to be hostile so we asked the board if they liked me. it started moving towards no, then turned around suddenly and the pointed end of the curser decided to start moving towards me awfully fast. I freaked, threw the board and that was the end of that. I wouldn’t say don’t ever use a ouija board again, but there are certain you can do to make it safer, such as making a protective circle and making sure you only allow the positive. There are rituals to make it safer i just suggest you really be careful because as that psychic said, the channel is very broad, you’re letting a lot of things in, and not all are good.

  25. Jamie says:

this is to AJ. that is so not the best way to get rid of an O-board. the boared is just a tool if you destroy the tool the spirit is free to mess with whoever or whatever it wants to because it is no longer bound to the tool.
    DO NOT BURN THE BOARD!!!!

  26. HR says:

I too have used a board with a friend of mine. We smudged with sage first, surrounded/circled ourselves and the place with protective energy, called in our spirit guides and guardians and we made it clear that we only wanted to connect with a loving, spiritual energy to give us guidance. We energetically banned anything negative from entering into our protective circle. Our experience went well. Afterwards we thanked the source we communicated with, released it, opened the circle and smudged again just to be on the safe side.
Please be careful with the board. I personally don’t feel comfortable with it even though my friend and I have nothing negative to say about our personal experiences. I do not use one now and I will not have one in my home. I could see where things could get out of hand and go terribly wrong. If you have to use one, please protect yourself and use it with caution, knowledge and respect. It is not a game.
    BE SAFE!

  27. Jackie says:

You don’t even need to have a proper ouija board bought from a shop for it to work. When i played it for the first and last time, it was just scrabble pieces one of the hotel staff used for the alphabet, which he placed in a circle. An upturned wine glass was used for the planchette and the words yes and no spelt out with scrabble pieces also.

I was a total skeptic and i mean skeptic, big time! so i was VERY surprised when the glass started to move, plus i could sense it was real and nobody moving it. It’s hard to explain the feeling in the atmosphere around us as it started to work, but it was is if time had stood still almost, weird i know, but it really was like that. There was only me and my work colleague playing it when it moved as the staff in the hotel we were staying had got bored and sat at another table.

It was late, reaching the early hours of the morning and there were only a handfull of us in the hotel bar, including bar staff who we had only just met that evening. The staff accused us of moving the glass, so i asked if it could prove it was working. The glass then went to the words, ‘GOSS’. One of the barmen jumped up and said, ‘that’s my surname’. F****, was i freaked out by that, then as me and my friend was looking up at him, i said, ‘is it?’ then the glass spelled it out again. We never knew this man before this night and only for about an hour. That wasn’t the end to this story, which is tucked away somewhere in the ouija board stories, a bit too long for me to re-type here. But my point is, i had a terrible outcome from messing around with it that night.

Needless to say i wasn’t a skeptic anymore and was totally amazed by what i had witnessed, more so, after i was attacked from something and a prayer saved me. This made me instantly believe in God, NOTHING could make me believe otherwise now, so the only good thing to come out with messing with the board was it brought me to God.

  28. Bobbie Sue says:

that is crazy I will never do that. it sounds like once you start you cant stop, addiction or something.

  29. Amethyst Star says:

This is to the warrior priestess. Obviously you are very mis-informed as to what witches are. People who follow the wiccan path are not “dark souled people”. As a matter of fact their main rule is to harm none. The ouija board is a tool used for divination and to contact the spirits, however you never know who will come through and shouldn’t be “played” with.
