Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

Ever since I was a small child, I have always thought that my house is haunted.

When I was younger, my room was upstairs in the two-story house I still live in with my parents. From the beginning I heard footsteps almost every single night around 12:30 coming up the stairs and stopping at my door. Thinking that it was my parents checking on me, I decided one night to try and scare them by jumping out into the hallway. To my surprise, the hall was empty.

After that experience, I moved downstairs into our old dining room that had been converted into a bedroom. One night I couldn’t sleep so I decided to sleep in my parents bed with them. During the middle of the night I woke up and saw a light hovering in the room. With my parents room being in the back of the house, there is no possible way that it could have been a car. Also, the light didn’t brighten up the room even a little bit. It just hung there, suspended for a minute or so then flew into the door.

From that moment on I slept with the overhead light on in my room every night for a few years, never telling anyone about what I had seen or heard upstairs. Over the course of those years footsteps, banging, and voices were rare but left lasting impressions that still make this now 18 guy shiver like a scared 4 year old girl.

Eventually one night I got into a conversation with my parents about what I had seen when I was younger, as activity had begun to pick up again. This was about 7 months ago. What I found out scared me even more. My mom had seen the exact same thing. Also, my dad hears woman crying saying his name. That made life a whole lot more complicated.

TV’s began to turn on randomly, vases fell, I heard a man laughing five feet from me, and pictures that had been thrown away in our big trashcan outside reappeared in my room after being gone for months. I finally decided to tell my friends.

After hearing what sounded like 2 bears wrestling upstairs, they agreed that I wasn’t crazy.

Since then we have been investigating my house off and on. Tonight for instance. We have EVPs of a woman saying my father’s name when no one was home, been touched, watched cabinets open, and video taped a door closing on my leg (that last incident occurring an hour ago).

My dad collects bayonets, which is what we believe to be the source of the spirits, as we had this house built. We have been using an Ovilus which has provided mixed results. While at times it sputters off random words, at others it says full coherent sentences such as when asked how “Harry” (we believe this to be the ghosts name) was doing it said to my friend “Terrible. How are they?” This was on Phonetic mode, not dictionary mode.

We have so far confirmed the voices of two ghosts, one being a woman while the other is this “Harry”.
