Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

Hey, so this is my first time posting on here. This story isn’t really “scary” or the kind that gives you chills.

I’m 19 now, but I’ve had some paranormal/spirit experiences since I was 2. I used to talk to my grandfather who passed away when I was 7 months old. He came back to check on me, and once in a while I’ll feel like he’s still watching over me.

This story isn’t about my grandfather though. It’s about my grandmother’s cousin. My grandmother and her cousin were the same age, so they were really close. He died when they were 8 back in 1928. On the day of his funeral, my grandmother was outside playing dolls with one of her friends and she went into her room to get something. She said that when she went close to her closet, she heard a rattling. When she opened the closet, she saw her cousin. He said “Goodbye” and left.

Fast-forward to November 2007. My mom and my brother, Geoff, were cleaning the basement and they came across these 2 really old pictures. One is a picture of my grandmother’s cousin when he was 7, and the other picture is a picture of his father. My mom and brother decided to open the frame of the picture of the little boy. They wanted to see if there was anything hidden in there of value. There was nothing, so they put the picture behind the TV stand and went out. I was at home, my dad was at work and my oldest brother was in a different city. When my mom and Geoff came home, the picture was in a different spot. So they put it back behind the TV, and walked away thinking that they imagined they put the picture away. The picture moved again. This happened 3 more times before we just left the picture there.

The next week we put the Christmas tree up (my mom loves Christmas, and always has the house decorated by mid-November). I was helping to decorate the tree, when the tree shifted. I didn’t think about it. I thought it was just adjusting to being stood up again. I was almost done, when the tree shifted back to where it was. The next morning, I was getting ready for school. I was the only one up and I was listening to the music that was on my computer. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and when I came back, I started to do something on the other side of my room (I think I was putting on makeup..) when the sound from my speaker stopped, but the power light was still on and nothing was unplugged. I unplugged my speakers and plugged them back in, turned the volume dial and no sound came out. After a couple tries, I said out loud “Ghost kid, if that’s you that turned off my speakers, can you please turn them back on for me?” I turned the speakers on, and the music came out.

Nothing happened after that until May of 2008.

My friend was coming down from across the country to surprise her dad, so she would be staying with me for a few nights. My mom wanted to make sure my room was super clean for when she came down. So Friday after school we started intense cleaning. We swept, vacuumed, and mopped my floors, cleaned my dressers, night stand and computer desk, the computer and everything else. We stopped cleaning at around 10 pm and decided to continue cleaning the next morning. Everything that I had on the floor (which was A LOT) was piled on my bed, so I had to sleep in the guest room. I wanted to listen to some music, so I plugged some things back in to the extension cord. When I finally went to bed (around 1:30 am), I closed my bedroom door and brought my iPod, and my new book with my to the guest room. I started to doze off to sleep around 3. When I started to sleep, I felt as though someone had shoved me awake. So I turned off my iPod, closed the book and turned off the light and went to sleep.

When I got up the next day, I went to my room and saw that my door was open. That was kind of weird, but I thought maybe my mom got up in the night and wanted to see if I was asleep in my bed or the guest bed. I just shrugged it off, until I looked at my extension cord. Everything was unplugged and so was my computer. That was weird because during the whole cleaning process of the previous day, my mom nor I unplugged the computer. I asked around the family when everyone was up if they went into my room and unplugged anything. No one was in my room and I was the last one to bed.

I don’t really know why this happened, but I think it might have been my grandmother’s cousin just playing a prank on me. Comments and thoughts on what it could be are more than welcome!

I have more stories, but I’ll submit them some other time. Sorry if this was really long!
