Many Years of the Unknown

Posted on January 23, 2011

My story begins when I was really young, mom always said I was really talkative as a baby, only, I would talk to doorways and empty corners.

When I was 6 I was sitting down with the family, we were watching America’s Funniest Home Videos’ (the original with bob saggat.) I remember, when a commercial came on, I needed to use the bathroom. So, I went in did my business, but as I went to flush the toilet, the shower curtain began to shake, the sink turned on and I heard this distinct male voice going “ooooo” (Yes, I know, cliché, but it did.)

When I was 7, mom was buying a new couch set for the house, I remember all of the recliners were kept in the basement. Well, being a child, I wanted to play on them. I remember walking down the “L” shaped stairs, when I got to the corner part of the “L” I watched as all of the recliners began to glide back and forth. I stood for a moment, I was confused, at first I thought it was my brother playing a trick on me. Then I heard that same male voice, “Get out!” I ran back upstairs. To this day, I will not go back into that basement. My brother, according to my mom, was right by her side the entire time.

At the age of 8, I was cleaning my room, I remember feeling as if I were being watched. (Something I know to be true now when I get a tightening sensation in my chest.) There was no one home, there was no one in the house except me. Mom was working at the store, my two older brothers and my elder sister was helping, and my younger sister was at a friends house. I remember picking up a pink jersey that I loved to wear, when the door behind me popped open. I heard a scream which scarred me out of my skin. I ran to mom’s store. Not to return until she came home that night. On the doorframe, by the bottom hinge, were finger marks, all four of them.

At the age of 9, things calmed down a bit. I remember a few spontaneous things that happened, like something being where I didn’t put it, and a few whispers in the dark from that same male voice.

When I was ten, I was getting on my shoes to walk down to mom’s shop. My mom, by this time, had developed a story about a ghost in the house who watched our every move. She called him Jonathan. Anyway, I again, got the distinct feeling I was being watched. So, I decided to speak up. I told who ever was in the house, that I forgave them for scarring me when we first moved in. What happened when I tried to use the bathroom. Well, apparently, they either wanted to scare me more, or say they didn’t like being reminded, on the floor of the attic (Which was barely big enough to stand in, nothing was up there, except for dust and cob webs, not even piping was there.) There began a banging. It was loud and I could feel it rumble through the house. Again, I ran, not returning until mom came home.

We moved out of that house when I was 12, but that didn’t stop me from hearing whispers, or seeing things that other people could not. Mom said I had an over active imagination. (Sorry, you can’t see or hear the things I have, and think it is imagination.) Anyway, we moved into a slightly larger house in the country when mom remarried.

I remember it was exactly 4 weeks after we had moved in, I was upstairs in a room with highly slanted walls. (Seriously, you had to bend over to get into my room.) I remember I was working on an assignment for 8th hour, when it suddenly got really cold. I pulled my favorite blanket over my shoulders and continued to work. My younger sister was asleep on the other side of the slanted walls room, I remember she started to snore, I got irritated and rolled my eyes, then looked in her direction. That’s when I saw it, my first full body apparition. It was grayish white, it was tall, masculine. I remember looking at the head which was half submerged in my wall while the rest of it just stood there, I don’t recall if I could see through it or not, I do remember sticking my head under the covers and screaming. Mom and dad brushed it off. But I couldn’t.

When I was 16 I moved out of my mom and dad’s place. Had having enough of the activity in that house. It was never anything dangerous. But I still knew it was there. My room, finally a room that I didn’t have to share. I loved it. Once again, I was home alone, My sister and her friend were working, about 9 o’clock at night, I remember putting aside an assignment for school, once again, that grayish white full body apparition was standing where I could see it. (Pretty sure it was the same one.) Right before my window, I looked at it for just a moment, before I turned my head away, closed my eyes and tried to shake the image clear. When I looked back, he was gone.

My sisters friend, who lived with us at the time, said at the time, she had seen the same thing, walking down the hallway to my room. (She will deny that now.) My sister, claims to have heard footsteps in the hallway as well, but never saw him.

When I was 18, I moved into my own apartment on the other side of the small town. Where, nothing happened for awhile. Then I had a son, and moved into a two bedroom in the same complex. Where once again, I have seen the grayish white entity, who seems to be following me. Since I moved in here, I have seen him three times. Heard him … I’ve stopped counting. I even recorded my first EVP session in this apartment.

Now, I guess you could say I go looking for them. I am an avid ghost hunter, and frequently help those in my local area who are experiencing unexplainable phenomenon. Most of the time I am in it to debunk a lot. However, there are some, which I have to admit, still scare me. I am 26 now, my son is 7. Unfortunately, I think he has inherited my gift to hear, and possibly see the things that many others can not.
