In December 2009 into January 2010. My wife daughter and I were staying at the Lancaster Apartments on Mactan Island near the Airport. Apparently unknown to my wife and I that these Apartments and building complex had been built some 15 years prior and project abandoned. Until a New Investment Group took over the Buildings and began finishing the project with Self Contained Accommodation Units.
Well my wife and I had accommodation for 3 weeks at the Lancaster and we began experiencing many unusual events we could not explain. As the Unit we were occupying was on the Second Floor E Wing of the Complex Room E220. The surrounding rooms were un-occupied and used as storerooms or were incomplete and locked for safety and security. That was fine until about 10 pm each night my wife and I heard unusual sounds coming from the next door Unit. Like Furniture being dragged across the room across stone tiled flooring. Always at the same time of night and lasted for about 1 hour. You might say what was unusual about that? Well it was unusual as the room next door was unoccupied and was incomplete and vacant with security locks on the door and the Apartments were on the Second Floor above street level. Ok I am open to suggestion as to what and whom was moving furniture around a vacated incomplete Unit that was locked 24 hours a day 7 days a week whilst we were there?
On another occasion my 8 year old daughter awoke to see what she claimed was a Little Black Boy about 2 foot tall staring at her from the Kitchenette and main entrance door to the Unit. My wife awoke me. And I could see nothing as we had left the Kitchenette Light on for our daughter in case she needed to go to the bathroom during the night. I got up immediately out of bed but I could see nothing but what looked like a haze of Building and Concrete Dust in the vicinity of the main entrance door way of the Unit where the so called Little Black Boy was suppose to be standing. As both my wife and daughter are Pinas and raised in Cebu they were some what unsettled for rest of the night. This occurred about 2.00 am I am an Australian and a confirmed skeptic but again I couldn’t explain this event. Maybe it was an over active imagination from my 8 year old daughter?
My wife claimed she wouldn’t stay in the Apartment by herself when I had to attend to business in Manila for 5 days. She began to leave her Rosaries around the Door Handles and one of the Windows facing towards the Street. As my daughter also claimed she had seen a mysterious woman enter the Apartment from the Street through the small window next to her bed. Again this window was on the Second Floor above Street Level and mostly we kept it locked. It was an Small sliding window and no way any one could enter the Window due to its size and window was locked as well.
I spoke to some of the Staff at the Lancaster about these events in room E220 only to be informed that quiet a number of the Staff and Guest had seen unusual events or experienced unexplained encounters in the Complex of the Buildings of the Lancaster in the different Accommodation Wings of the Building Complex.
Even as we found out Later that the Cebu Taxi Drivers after 8.00pm would not park their Taxis outside the main entrance lobby of the Complex awaiting a fare from Apartment Guest as like any Hotel in Cebu. The Taxi Drivers by and large were most unwilling to hang about the Lancaster Apartments at night. Which in itself made getting a Taxi Difficult at times as the Lancaster is on a side road from the main road to the AirPort.
My wife spoke to some of these Taxi Drivers in Taglog and Visyaan. Only to be informed by the Taxi drivers. Maam the place we think is haunted by Spirits.
Has the Lancaster Apartments have other Guests other than the earthly kind? You tell me. Because I can’t explain it. Nor can I explain the story from 3 Staff Members who related an incident in another Complex Wing. That 2 of their colleagues encountered a dark hair woman standing in one of the rooms and the woman vanished before their eyes. When the Staff Members went to talk to the woman about general questions about her accommodation.
Would I stay again at the Lancaster? Yes but it doesn’t bother me. But my wife said she would never stay there again. She was unrelaxed through our entire stay at the Lancaster.
