I Thought I Was Being Robbed

Posted on September 29, 2011

I had just moved to Huntington, West Virginia from a very small town. I lived in a small apartment in the attic (loft) area. In my living room I noticed a rather large stain on the wall next to the front door. I had asked my landlord what it was and he told me that it was nothing and that he had left some extra paint in the closet if I wanted to paint over it. Well, I first cleaned it with water and it went away. The next day it had returned. So, I cleaned it with Mean Green, the next day it was back. I then scrubbed it away with a Mr. Clean eraser and it came back the next day. Finally, I painted over it and it came back the next day. So, I just gave up on it and basically forgot about it.

I was working for an ambulance company and was away from home a lot. On the few nights that I actually got to sleep in my own bed I experienced numerous unexplained things.

One night I had just got off work around 1 am and was getting ready to hit the sack. As I was changing out of my uniform I noticed a shadow on my wall that was no where near the size or shape of me. I shook it off thinking I was just tired. I went on and turned out the light and got into bed. As soon as I laid down I noticed that the shadow was still on the wall (there was a street light right outside of my window). So of course I was terrified.

I laid there watching the shadow for about a minute and then it began to slowly move toward my bed. I watched it move down the wall until it was directly beside me. Then it just faded away. Needless to say I was totally freaked out but, I still chalked it up to being so tired from working so long.

About 2 weeks later, I returned home after another long shift and jumped straight into bed. I laid there about 5 minutes and suddenly my blanket was yanked off of me and into the floor. I was so tired and not in the mood for tricks so I yelled out, “leave me and my blanket alone.” I don’t know, guess I had a lot of nerve that night. So, I got my blanket and covered back up and went to sleep.

Nothing happened for about a month, until I decided to let a guy friend and partner on the ambulance stay with me for a couple weeks. Right after he moved in, the weirdness returned. He woke up nightly because something was scratching him. He would have fingernail marks down his chest and arms. Sometimes they would be deep enough to bleed. He was sleeping in the living room on the couch and I would hear him scream and come into the room and he would be sitting on the couch with marks all over him. So, by this time I’m terrified to stay in the apartment alone.

I was off one day and my friend was at work. I had just sat down on the toilet (yeah I know, gross) and at that same time I watched a man walk out of my bedroom into the hallway. I froze. At first I thought I was being robbed. Then he slowly turned and looked me square in the eye. I didn’t know what to do. We just stared at each other. He then slowly turned his head and began to walk away. Like I wasn’t even there. When he turned around, the entire back of his head was missing. (put me in the mind of the little boy on the movie the sixth sense that said, come here let me show you where my dad hides his gun) I lost it. Had I not been on the toilet, I would have peed in my pants. I jumped up, and took off down the steps trying to pull my pants up and put on shoes at the same time.

Later that day, I was at my ambulance station telling everyone what had happened and one of the guys there had his girlfriend there with him. She asked me where I lived and I told her. She then tells me that she had lived there a year ago and just about the same thing had happened to her. I didn’t believe her. I thought she was just trying to scare me,(like I wasn’t already) and get a laugh out of it. So, I called my landlord and asked him about all of it and he admitted that a few years back, a man had committed suicide in the apartment by shooting himself in the head, in the very same spot that the stain kept coming back. He also said that the girl was telling the truth, she did live there and she left in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I packed my things and got the heck out of there.
