I need to know what I’m searching for

Please I need your help! I have been trying on my own for years, but I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for. I am looking for a true story probably an old legend ranging from (most likely) the feudal era to the early 1900′s. I know it is a large range, but I just don’t know when the story takes place or in what country/region.

The story involves a young girl running from a deadly attacker into a forest on a rainy night. The rain in the story is described as so thick you can hardly see through it. The girl ends up in a small clearing of trees where she is almost killed by her attacker. Before the final blow is received a young man dressed in white with silver hair saves her by cutting down her attacker with a sword.

The man, even though it is not in his nature (not something he would normally do) rescues the girl by scooping her up and carrying her to safety. I’m not sure if this part is in the story, I don’t remember, but the girl should have deep wounds and would most likely be covered in blood. The man is known for being ruthless, but yet he still saves the girl. I know the girl does survive in the story and all her wounds heal, but I don’t know if the man knew the girl before the incident or not.

I know this is not easy, but I was hoping someone would recognize something in this story. I have been searching for years now, but I just don’t remember enough to pull up any information on the internet or when searching books at a book store. I have asked people at the library, etc., but it never rings any bells. Please! I hope you can help me! I would appreciate it more than you would know. Thank you for your time.
