Hauntings in Henrieville Utah

Posted on February 4, 2010

It was a nearly 12 years ago, I was only ten years old at the time. When we had first moved in with my grandma in Henrieville, Utah. My mom and dad had just went through a tough divorce so my mom wanted to get as far away from my dad as possible. Henrieville is one of the smallest towns you will ever find so when my grandparents told us there was finally a house available My mom quickly took it. My older sister quickly made friends with a girl at school named Megan who lived in the next town up (one of three small towns that all went to school together). Megan introduced me to her little sister Geni and quickly she became my new best friend.

It wasn’t long before my mom found a night job and suddenly thought we needed a baby sitter, not wanting to leave the burden of us on my Grandma. Me and my sister thought we where both old enough to take care of ourselves in such and small town, but of course my mom was so used to the city life, she didn’t think twice about hiring two girls Ashley and Savannah who lived down the road looking for a job.

For the first few nights I didn’t think much about these two girls, they seemed nice enough to me. My sister on the other hand thought they where strange. They mostly kept to themselves putting movies on in the living room keeping us entertained and sat up talking in the kitchen the whole time.

One night when my mom went to work they sat us aside telling us they where going invite a few friends over and told us not to tell my mom. I didn’t like the idea of keeping secrets from my mom, but at the same time I didn’t want to look childish, tattle telling on them. After about an hour their three friends arrived; one girl, her boyfriend and his friend. They sat around talking for a moment then suddenly tried to make us go to bed. When we kept refusing Savannah got annoyed and told us if we stayed up with them we couldn’t be scared because they where going to play a game strictly for adults. “Maybe we should just go to bed,” I told my sister always being sort of a chicken. She told me “No,” of course it was after all only 8 o’clock.

Ashley told us to sit on the couch and to be quiet and when we did one of their friends pulled out a board (which you all know what it was. Sorry to this day I don’t even like to say or write the name of it, the memory of what happened still scares me). I don’t exactly remember what was said or what they asked it I just remember them lighting the candles and turning out all the light. I also remember having a nervous and uneasy feeling and my sister claimed she felt the same way.

The next few days I felt scared sleeping by myself in my dark bed room but never told anyone, luckily for me Geni’s mom and dad had to go out of town so she and Megan would get to stay the next week with us. The first few nights I had forgotten all about the other night until me and Geni were laying down for bed (me and my sisters rooms were down stairs in the basement). I was halfway asleep when suddenly I heard a whisper in my ear saying my name. It woke me up quickly and I asked Geni if she had said my name and when she told me no I was suddenly creeped out, but tried my best not to think about it. It wasn’t long after I had fallen asleep when Geni woke me up looking scared. When I had asked her what was wrong she told me that she had heard people whispering by the stairs when she got up to go to the bathroom. “Maybe its Megan and my sister,” I told her. “No, it wasn’t them,” she said, “It sounded like two men.” I didn’t know what to do because I felt to scared so I just told her that we should turn on the light to the bathroom and keep my bedroom door open.

The next day at school I told Geni about the game our babysitters had played. She told me she had heard bad things about it and to not let them bring it in the house again. The baby sitters had came and gone a few time, and luckily they had not brought it back. Over the next few months I hadn’t heard anything at all so I believed that I had just been tripping. I was wrong. My mom had gotten laid off from work because it was winter and the tourist season was over so the babysitters never came back.

I remember it was snowing really hard one night when my sister came in my room. “Can you hear that?” she had said as she climbed into my bed. “Hear what?” I had asked. “I can hear foot steps up stairs,” she said looking up at the ceiling. “I don’t hear it” I told her, after a moment of listening. “Right now I can hear it,” she said scared. I sat there quite for a moment then suddenly I could hear like she had said, foot steps up stairs where the kitchen was. “Oh my gosh!” I screamed scared into my blanket. It only lasted for a few seconds sounding like it had walked into my moms room. “Maybe its just mom,” my sister said calming down. Then pulled me up off of the bed dragging me up to stairs to my moms room. Her bedroom door was closed so slowly my sister opened it. “Mom?” my sister whispered quietly as we walked up to her. My mom was sound asleep!

Over the next few weeks nothing happened; no whispers and no foot steps, none that I had heard anyway. I never did ask my sister if she had, not wanting to know the answer. (I assume my sister felt the same). One of the following nights I can remember very, very well. It was one of the first nights I think that my mom had started feeling strange things like me and my sister. I had awoke to what I thought was my mom calling my name, and when I went up stairs I found my mom sitting in the living room on the couch with the TV on, only she wasn’t watching it. She was more like staring off into nothingness, her eyes looked strange as if she hadn’t been sleeping good at all for a week. I asked her what was wrong and she had just looked at me and said she was fine that she was just not feeling right. I left it at that and didn’t question her further.

A few nights later Geni and I were having a sleep over at my house and my sister was staying at Megan’s. Me and Geni had stayed up late playing Mario on my Super Nintendo and eating from what I can remember at least five bags of Laffy Taffy. My mom had to come town stairs and make us go to bed. Once we finally fell asleep we couldn’t have been to bed longer then a few hours, when me and my mom were awoken to Geni screaming in the corner of my bed room and crying. I ran to her trying to grab her asking what was wrong but she would only push me away crying. My mom was quickly down the stairs and into my room asking what was wrong. I told her I didn’t know that Geni had just woke up freaking out. My mom told me to move aside and grabbed Geni by her shoulders and began to shake her gently, after a moment Geni snapped out of it. “I wanna go home, I wanna go home” she kept crying over and over again. My mom told me to get her things together and she would call her mom then ran up stairs. After a few minutes my mom came back and told us that Geni’s mom was on her way. We all sat there for a moment no one saying anything when Geni finally told us she had seen a women with black hair leaning over her and whispered your going to die, unless you get out of the house now. Then reached into her belly button and tried to rip it open. This sent chills down my spine. I remember feeling the urge to run out of the house. My mom looked just as scared as I did but told her it was just a bad dream (that was the last night over the next few years Geni had stayed to night at my house).

The next few weeks my mom later told us that she had felt a presence in her bedroom and whispers coming from down stairs. Me and my sister had heard nothing. Until one night (which happened to be the last night we stayed in the house before getting it blessed). I woke up hearing someone whisper my name again. I was about to get up when suddenly I saw a shadow walk past my room and go towards the stairs. A few minutes later my sister came running into my room saying she felt someone stroking her face with their hand. We sat there in my room on my bed so scared in tears not daring to move, when suddenly we heard my mom screaming our names. Quickly we ran up stairs to her as she was running out of the her bedroom grabbing her keys telling us to get in the car. We drove quickly to my grandma’s house which was only a few blocks away. I remember sitting there on my grandmas couch listening to my mom crying and telling her she had been soaking in the bath tub when suddenly she had a strong feeling to get out, so she did. She got dressed and began to fall asleep when suddenly she felt a hand brush across her hair. It had instantly woke her up and when she opened her eye she seen the bed dent down as if someone had just sat down next to her.

The next day My mom had arranged for a bishop to come in and bless our house. When he was done, the house, to my surprise, felt clean. Not long after that my sister and I had come clean to my mom about what the baby sitter had done. Luckily we moved out of that house a few years later after my mom had met someone and got remarried.

You don’t have to believe my story but I swear to you it is all true!
