My daughter was married at Boringdon Hall near Plymouth a few days before Christmas just gone.
I myself stayed in room 17 with another family member. I have stayed in many haunted places within Devon and Cornwall… in fact I have lost count of the number of times we have stayed in room 5 at Jamaica Inn in Cornwall.
However, the night of December 21st 2010 at Boringdon was unreal… we had lights flying around the room, ice cold areas, shadows, and the final thing to send us running were grunting sounds from “within” the room. You would have to see the room to understand that the sounds came only from that room.
We ran down to reception at 1:40 am saying there was no way we could stay a moment longer in the room, we left everything even the lights on and the door open… the man at reception gave us the keys to a room in the newer part, and said “there is no way I am going up there”.
The next morning other workers at Boringdon told us they did not go to room 17 which is at the top of the building, unless they had to, and one lady asked “why were you put in that room?”
Boringdon Hall is over 1,000 years old. I am not easily spooked, I adore old buildings and we go out of our way to stay in haunted ones… but this was a step to far.
