Haunted VA hospital

Posted on October 11, 2007

Hello, I’m a construction worker out of Tampa Florida. I do a lot of maintenance work in the hospitals around the state.

I was at the Bay Pines V.A Hospital near St.Petersburg. There are many buildings on the complex, its just my luck I was in the oldest building. I was told that it was built in the late teens and early 20′s.

I was on the 2nd floor with a co-worker and we were the only ones on the floor at the time. We were at the end of a long hallway working in a mechanical room after hours. For some reason I looked down to the end of the hallway. I saw a man staring at me who had on a grey jumpsuit kind of like a mechanic suit and he was kind of pail and faceless.

So I turned to my co-worker and said I thought we were the only ones up here. He turned and looked at me and said we were. So I told him that I saw someone and he said lets go take a look because no one is suppose to be here but us.

So we go look and see nothing. The elevators were down at the time and the only way down was a staircase right beside the room where we were working in. So right away I freaked out and told my co-worker I’m getting the hell out of here.

A week or two later I went to the same place during regular hours. I told my story to one of the hospital workers. After he made fun of me and asked me what I was smoking he said that years ago this floor was a mental health ward. He also said the patients wore grey jumpsuits. I never told him what the man was wearing. Pretty freaky. I know what I saw and I don’t think I’m crazy do you?

That’s true mental hospitals are notorious for hauntings, because so many pe ople died there. I use to live near a state school while growing up I think at the time it was built in the 1800′s it was called an alms house then later known as the the “asylum for idiots”, that’s what they called them in that era, people who worked there have seen many strange things, there was also a huge cemetary behind the buildings where they buried patients!
