True Ghost Tales

Hi. My name is Caroline and I go to Springfield High school in Ohio. I am going into my Sophomore year and the past year I have heard stories about the Central Building being haunted. The Central Building has been there since my Grandma went to high school and even before that. There are a lot of different stories about the first and second floors.

On the first floor there are only a few classrooms still opened, the rest are locked or barred up. Most of the students and even the teachers say that the locked doors rattle and screaming is heard. Most people didn’t believe it because there were only four classrooms opened down there and so most students were never down there.

On the second floor, there are about two or three classrooms closed. I’m not sure because I didn’t have any classes on that floor and the only time I did go on that floor was when I was always skipping class with my best friend, Adam. There is a particular room that is talked about most. The room used to be a science lab. In 1978, there was an explosion and two students and a professor were killed. The room has double doors and there are big windows on it. It is said that when nobody else is in the hallway, you can see people moving around in there and you can hear people talking.

Now here is where my story starts. The first story starts on the bottom floor. I was sent out of the classroom for not doing my work. I was sitting at a desk outside the classroom. One of the locked up rooms was across the hall from where I was sitting. I was writing a paper about “Why I Won’t Do My Work”, so I wasn’t paying much attention to what was happening at first. So I’m sitting there writing this paper when I heard a loud noise coming from the bolted up room. Being too angry to care at the time, I paid no attention at first. It was about ten minutes before the noises got louder and I, only being the beginning of my freshman year, was scared to death. I didn’t get up and go hide in the restroom on the third floor until I heard mumbling coming from the room followed by an ear blistering scream. I ran up the stairs and when I got to the top of the staircase, all of the noises stopped. I was too scared to go back down there so I hid in the bathroom for the rest of the class period.

Later that day I had asked my friend, Stephanie, if she had heard anything since she had been in my class. She said she didn’t hear anything.

My other story is not as scary as the first. I had decided To skip eighth period, the last period of the day, with my best friend Adam. We knew the teachers wouldn’t care because it was a day before final exams. The old lab was about two classrooms down from where we were sitting, but I could still see it clearly. We were sitting in some desks talking about what classes we were going to take next year. I saw something out of the corner of my eye in the classroom. It looked like someone was walking around. I asked Adam in a very quiet voice if he had just seen it. He just nodded. We could see someone moving in the front of the class and the teacher was mumbling something about molecules and atoms. We could barely hear what he was saying but we were so scared that we couldn’t move. The voice and shadows faded after about five minutes. The rest of the class period we sat there whispering about what we saw.

I still can’t explain why these things happened and why nobody else heard the screaming on the bottom floor when it was so loud. If anything else happens this upcoming year, I will definitely post it.
