Ghostly Sense of Humor

Posted on May 31, 2010

My stories aren’t scary, but they do come from the paranormal realm so I hope you enjoy them anyway.

About six months ago, one afternoon I unplugged the headphones from my computer and forgot to plug them back in. After going to bed that night, I began hearing a pretty loud drngggggg (musical chord) coming from my computer in the other room every time a new email came in, and I get lots of spam overnight.  So I got up, and in the dark made my way into the other room. As I started to lean forward over the computer desk to reach the volume switch on the left speaker, about 6” in front of my face a man’s voice said “hello.”  It was a strange voice, because it sounded like it came from a full-grown man, but that he was only about 12” tall, so even though it was clear, it was small.  I stopped moving and backed up about a foot and stayed that way for about a minute before leaning forward again to find the switch.  I hadn’t wanted to put my hand through this spirit’s energy if he was still there because I didn’t know what that would feel like. Since he didn’t sound threatening and task completed, I went back to bed.

Nothing happened for a couple of months, then I bought a new phone to sit on my bookcase headboard… and wouldn’t you know it, the phone had to be plugged into a wall outlet which was behind my bed. So I somehow managed to pull my mattress/box springs about one foot out from where they hit the headboard. I dropped the cord/plug on the floor, held the phone in my left hand, and with my right hand grabbed the top of my night stand to steady me as I squatted down and tried to force my body into the opening to reach the electrical outlet. All of a sudden, a man’s voice came from between the headboard and mattress and said “hello.” I didn’t move for about 10 seconds, then grabbed the phone receiver with my right hand, held it up to my ear and said “hello.” Then it hit me that the phone didn’t ring, it wasn’t even plugged in, and the voice did not come from the receiver… I had just made an automatic physical response. I felt really foolish! I could imagine the spirit chuckling away at what I had done. Then I remembered the voice by my computer desk, and realized that it sounded like the same spirit… fully mature man but with a small voice.

The room where my computer desk sits also holds an armoire which I bought from a second-hand shop.  As the little, wrinkled, white-haired, bent-over lady at the counter was handing me my change, she looked very closely at me and said that the armoire I had just purchased was haunted by a prince. I told the fellow I was dating at the time, and he started saying “Hi MIB” (man in box) every time he walked past the armoire.  It became a great joke between us. Now I wonder – is that the prince making himself known to me?
