Ghostly Alarm Clock

Posted on June 6, 2010

The most haunted place I’ve live in was an apartment in Ocean Beach, on the outskirts of San Diego. At 3:30 one morning, I was just beginning to awaken to make a bathroom trip, when all of a sudden it sounded like someone took a heavy wooden slat and slammed it against the wall above my headboard as hard as they could. It startled me to the point that I jumped up and my heart started to beat hard and fast. I was very aggravated and since I felt I had developed a relationship with the spirits who seemed to follow me from place to place, I verbally told them that I have to get up and go to work early in the morning, that this was not acceptable, that I wish to be awakened only in case of emergency, that I already knew they were there so they didn’t have to remind me in the middle of the night, but if they wanted to be useful, they could wake me at 5:45 in the morning (the time my alarm was set to go off).

Well, several mornings in a row I heard something different a couple of minutes before that time… a bell ringing, a buzz, a knock, a dog barking in my ear, a weird squawk. One morning there was the sound of an air horn in my ear. I admire their creativity. (I had forgotten to set my alarm the night before so I appreciated their help.) They also seem to have a well developed sense of humor.

They eventually stopped, but it has happened off and on since then. Now that I am retired, I sometimes take a nap during the day (boredom). A couple of mornings ago, my spirits evidently figured I had been in bed long enough. I heard three notes playing in succession very loudly, like someone playing a reedy organ in my ear. When they do this, I usually chuckle and say, yep, it’s time to get up!

A couple of times recently when I had been napping on the couch, I heard a woman say “up” and a man yesterday morning said “too late” at the end of a nap.  A couple of months ago while still in bed in the morning, I heard the squawk I heard in Ocean Beach, then immediately coming out of the headboard behind me, a male saying “hahaha.”

I have heard a young boy I would guess to be around eight years old say “mom” a couple of times, even one “mommmmmmmm!” and a “grandma.” I heard two children giggling.

So far I seem to have only pleasant spirits. I certainly hope it remains that way.

These spirits certainly seem friendly. You should really be careful though, if you do anything to make them angry they may turn bad. Sometimes writing about spirits over the internet can aggravate spirits and make them angry but I have only heard about this when the spirits are already bad. So far the spirits do seem friendly but take care.

Sarah, weird you should mention my making my interactions with the spirits public and possible incurring their wrath. In publications posted recently, I mention a psychic’s communication with the male spirit who had been haunting me, and he wanted me to write a book about him! But then she also said he was very arrogant, so it’s possible he just wanted to become well known. Computers were in their infancy then, so now he is getting his moment of fame through this web site. He must be smiling ear to ear, if he has ears!

you are lucky to have a friendly spirits in your house.

  7. Kind Skeptic says:

What fun for you! I completely disagree with “Sarah’s” statement about your special friends “turning bad” on you because you share your experiences. Good spirits are simply that — good. And your “family of spiritys” seems to be a real hoot to have around. I suspect that since you have so many of them looking after you, they will ensure no negative forces enter your space. And if by chance they do, I’d just call on them to take care ‘em and wake you up when they’re through! LOL :-)

    • Sandy says:

Kind Skeptic, actually I did put your recommendation into practice once. For some reason for a period of about two weeks, it seemed that a door to the beyond had been opened and I heard voices all night long and had trouble sleeping. I called on my couple of friendly spirits to please help me get rid of all the others. The frequency of the voices went way down. I don’t know if my friendly spirits had anything to do with it, but I prefer to think so.

  8. Jennifer Mills - Young says:

I agree. This is generally the case of a positive interaction with spririts in general, it is only the perception of the living that the experience is ” bad ” or ” scary ” that will indeed make it so. Unfortunately, such benign experiences (which are the norm) don’t make great movies or TV or camp fire stories. People forget that in any interaction with the spirit world they indeed have the control of their own reality. If you believe ” bad” spirits and demons are around every corner……inevitably they will be! I know from my own experience fear is the greatest power evil can employ and if you don’t have any – it becomes powerless. My interactions with spirits have been generally similar and just as funny at times! They don’t loose their sense of humour!
