Ghost Cat or Something Else?

Posted on January 17, 2011

Is it possible for an animal such as a cat to wind up as a ghost roaming between worlds? There have been many stories that seem to involve a ghost cat or other animal.

Ghost Cat or Something Else?

In 2008 I started a new job where I met the man I recently married. (August 8th, 2010) In May of 2009 I moved in with him, I was spending so much time at his place anyways, we were newly engaged, and it seemed like a logical next step.

We rarely have the same days off, so when we do we enjoy spending time together. One such day (In 2009) we both had the day off, and were lounging around watching TV. We felt the bed moving, so we got up to see why, and we saw this huge ‘bulge’ poking through the box spring mattress. We have four cats, and one of our cats (Junior) has a habit of getting into tight spaces, so at first we thought that it was him.

My fiancé started gently poking at what we thought was Junior in order to get him to come out. The ‘bulge’ would move towards a small tear in the box spring for awhile, and then would head back the other way. I looked under the bed to see if I could get him out that way, and saw our cat Andie just lying underneath the bed, but far from where the ‘bulge’ (STILL) was moving. Our other two cats Talon and Sydney were both sitting on the computer desk watching us. So it had to be Junior, right?

Knowing Junior couldn’t pass up a meal (He weighs 20 pounds!) I decided to go to the kitchen and open up a can of food, thinking that would get him out for sure! I even placed the open can under the bed hoping he would come out on his own. No such luck! So I started tearing up the underside of the box spring mattress in order to get him out. I could not see him from underneath, but my fiancé was still gently poking at the ‘bulge’ in order to force him out.

I was only able to have one child, I had him when I was 20 years old. Then when I turned 38 my biological clock kicked in big time, my son was already grown, and I wanted another child. Since I already knew that that wasn’t possible… I adopted 3 male kittens. (Talon, Sydney, and Junior) My fiancé had found Andie as a kitten, she was sick and abandoned, and he nursed her back to health. For us our cats are more like children than pets. So when one of my babies was in trouble, I acted like any mom would and started getting worried.(Never mind the fact that if he got himself in, he could get himself back out. If your a mom you will understand.)

I went back to the kitchen in order to get some lunch meat, hoping that might give him the incentive to come out on his own. As I was opening the refrigerator to get out the ‘lure,’ I looked to my left and saw Juniors tail poking out of the living room curtain. I went to check to make sure, and sure enough it was Junior!! Meanwhile my fiancé was still trying to get the ‘bulge’ out of the mattress.

When I went back into the bedroom, I told my fiancé that I had found Junior. Still poking at the ‘bulge,’ my fiancé said okay then its Andie… I have to get her out! I told him no and to look under the bed. Leaving one hand on the ‘bulge,’ he did so and saw Andie lying under there far from where the ‘bulge’ still was!

My fiancé looked at the ‘bulge,’ then back at Andie, and then at me. Then the ‘bulge,’ just disappeared! I have no idea as to what it was, it wasn’t one of our cats, and it couldn’t have been a mouse or something, because after all four cats were accounted for, the ‘bulge’ disappeared. If it were anything other than something supernatural the ‘bulge’ would of stayed there until we pulled it out. Since my husband and I love cats so much, we choose to think that it was one of our ‘babies’ coming back to play with us from beyond.

I enjoyed your story and I tend to agree with you. Maybe it was a lonely kitty from the other side that knew the two of you were a loving family. I have had similar experiences, once I thought one of my cats or the dog jumped onto the end of my bed but when I reached down to pet it nothing was there. When I was younger I always brought home strays so I just figured another “stray” found me. It’s nice to hear a happy ghost story once in awhile. Thanks for posting it!

What a lovely story. Yes your pets can visit after they have passed. I’m hoping that my two recently deceased cats will pay a visit once they have recovered on the other side. About twenty years or so ago I was cleaning a hotel room and I happened to look towards the door and I saw my dog who had passed over a few months before sitting there watching me. It is comforting to know that their love still lives on even though they’re no longer physically with us.

I believe your story, I have a rabbit and a cat. When we moved into the house it was so dirty and you could tell that some animals have lived there bc of the smell and you could see the claw marks. One day my mother and I were in the front room and a cat comes out of the kitchen but it was not our cat and than it was gone. But it probably knew we were good to our animals so it just wanted to say hi.
