Freddy Jackson Ghost Picture

Fred Jackson

Here is a well known paranormal photo that has been widely published both in books and online. This strange picture was shot in 1919 but wasn’t published until 1975.

This picture is a group portrait of Sir Victor Goddard’s squadron. These men had served in the R.A.F. in WW I. If you look in the top row at the fourth man from the left you will see a ghost like face behind him.

Two days before this photograph was taken a mechanic by the name of Freddy Jackson died in an accident. Jackson’s funeral had actually been held on the same day the group photo was taken. Squadron members have said they could recognize the face in the picture as that of Freddy Jackson.

Did Jackson show up for the group photo even though he was dead? In our Paranormal Survey {at the time of this posting} 83.5% of those who participated said that they believe this is a genuine ghost picture. What do you think? Is this Freddy Jackson’s ghost showing up for the group photo?

Wow, I believe that it’s him, especially since his funeral was the same day. It’s kind of a sad, it’s like he didn’t want to miss be in the picture.

    • Marc says:

If this picture is supposed to be very old and the pictuce was taken by their camera those days. How did they managed to zoom the photo so perfectly and find this(ghost)

      • Caretaker says:

Perhaps it was printed out in a frameable size? Then it would be easy to spot. And by the way they were able to zoom in and even to print enlargements back then. That is not a “modern” exclusive

  2. Fenwinkel says:

Does anyone have a picture of Freddy taken before his demise to compare this with?

  3. Karen M. says:

I wonder if the guy he was standing behind was his friend?

  4. Pat says:

Yes I too wondered at the relationship (if any) between these two men? It sure makes you think doesn’t it? the two men look different so it’s not a dbl exposure thing going on either…

  5. DADDYMARCO says:

was just thinken the same thing are they related or close or even lovers, very good pic

  6. Diana96 says:

I cant see him in the big picture!!But dont get the wrong idea but he does look kinda cute!!You must think im a Phsyco, but he really is!!

  7. mhiz says:

are they close???? much better if they will also post the pix of Freddy to compare with this strange pix….

  8. D.R. says:

I love this pic. I’ve seen it many times. He looks like Chandler Bing from Friends.

  9. Robbie Scifres says:

I don’t think this kind of thing is unusual. During war men and women are killed so quickly that they don’t realize they are dead and since time ceases for a deceased person, (a personal belief) the person can stay in one spot for 1 year, 10 years, 100 years or more without realizing how much time has passed. They are confused and in a limbo type state and so there is no one to tell them otherwise. So not understanding and not wanting to leave a place or person they love they stay put. I am sure most of you realize this. Ghosts are like people; you —heads, meanies, downright evil, and compassionate giving ghosts. Fortunately most of my experiences are with the last kind. These pictures give me hopw, maybe one day I will be able to capture one of my loved ones. What do you think?

  10. Robbie Scifres says:

Oh Caretaker, I forgot to tell you that there is a mistake in the article. The picture was taken in 1919 so they served in World War I – you accidently hit to many Roman Numeral ones. Simple mistake – we all know what you meant. Thank your for this great place to read and chat.

    • Caretaker says:

Robbie – thank you for pointing that out to me. Someitmes I think my keyboard is possessed! :) It seems I use the delete and backspace more than anything!

  11. Anurag says:

Why am I not able to view the pictures on my HTC Touch? I don’t have computer… :-(

    Love & Prayers,
    Anurag

  12. Siren says:

I have seen this picture a thousand times, and still to this day I don’t have any explanation for it…

  13. Mama5jac says:

Yes…I truly believe that this ghost was trying to show up for his picture with his former comrads. I mean why not?. I believe that this a true photo. I only hope that the men were glad to see their friend that had passed on.

  14. Pixie says:

I’ve seen this pic so many times. I really believe its a ghost.
I dont think its double exposure for 2 reasons.
1- If it was why is that the only face in the pic double exposed??
2- If you look close he looks nothing like the guy in front. His nose and mouth area are less defined and he has a shorter chin. And no hat.
you can clearly see the guys hairline too.

  15. halfpint1 says:

I think I see a man behind freddy ..his face is the size of the man in front of freddy the man behind him (freddy) looks like he has a old fashion cap thay had for helmets and goggles for the pilots then….what do you think

  16. Dakota says:

Freddy Jackson was in World War I as a pilot. He was flying in the War plane the DC-3 (The Dakota!) and got hit by a nisle. He died quickly and as Rob said dead people don’t know there dead if they died quickly. Awesome article!

  17. me says:

i really enjoy this link but for some reason i dont believe in ghosts, nothing scares me.so about this pic, cant say much.but who knows, this world is full of mysterious things.

  18. Savannah says:

i am one of the most skeptical people when it comes to this subjuct simply because ive seen to many fakes. I grew up on an indian burial site so i KNOW about the paranormal but this one seems real. that and photoshop didnt exist in the ’70s.anyway i was looking for photos for me thesis on the paranormal

  19. Anonymous says:

    heh thats creepu

  20. logan says:

i dont see what is so scary and i dont see him

  21. Arnold says:

In the picture of all the men standing, where is the gentleman that they have circled and enlarged standing because I cannot see him amongst the other men? I don’t think he is in the line up, and that the picture in the circle was taken at another time.

  22. Caretaker says:

Arnold – Look at the top row and count 4 starting from the left, that is the man in the zoom-in circle

  23. pedro martinez says:

    logan is very smart

  24. Jen says:

    A truely amazing picture.

  25. Josh says:

whoa wht an awsome photo i do belive in ghost because i have talked to a orb before it is truly amazing!!! :)

  26. russel says:

i think that is 100 % true for me

  27. Anonymous says:

I have examined this pic a million times before and still my conclusion is the same: This “being” behind Freddy is the person that came to fetch him from the earthly plane to the other side. Someone Freddy was close to. It cannot be Freddy as the face features are not the same

    • Caretaker says:

The “face features are not the same”? I havent been able to find a photo of Freddy Jackson when he was still alive. Where did you see one?

  28. Anonymous says:

i am an indian. in which burial site did you grow up savannah?

  29. ilovejonasbrothers says:

I think its real. its a possibility, that since he served in the whatever that he wanted to be in a group photo. haha thats just so cool.

  30. savannah says:

i dont know we have seen several artifacts in my area but they fit could belong to either the onida or the chickasaw they are both known and native to my community

  31. megan says:

I can SEE the pic!!!! i beleive this stuff, and i beleive that that “ghost” thingy is th frank guy!!

  32. mia says:

that is awsome but…. that i see a face behind the guy in the mirror also pic was taken in 1919!

  33. Angie says:

    oh he´s a beautiful ghost

  34. celine says:

I dont think this is a real picture at all
the guy that is referred to in the original picture doesn’t look like same person zoomed in
and you cant see anything behind any of the men in the smaller version.
the guy in the blown up picture looks like he could be my grandpa,
and the ‘ghost’ behind him looks like the same face/person
    I could’ve photoshopped this…

  35. Robbie Scifres says:

Celine – this picture has been verified to be from the correct time period and they didn’t have photo-shop back then. Some photographers used double exposure to fake pictures at the end of the civil war so that “mediums” could say they had contacted loved ones. It was called spirit photography but this does not show a double exposure. If you ever saw a spirit photograph you could tell the difference. I’m sorry but I get so frustrated! Some people say they can’t believe in something they can’t see and then when they get proof they can see they say it is a trick and they don’t believe it. If you don’t believe why do you bother to visit these sites? Maybe if you hang around long enough you will believe. Keep reading and thinking for yourself – it will come to you someday. Robbie

  36. mandy says:

thats creppie it well show you how much ghost think that they are still alive

  37. Believer says:

I truly believe that this is a genuine ghost photograph of Freddy Jackson

  38. shelia graywolfe hood says:

i’ve seen this picture and been in the military before where there is a brotherhood (sisterhood) unlike i’ve ever experienced outside of family and in some instances more than family. it’s no surprise to me that he felt the need to be with his “brothers”!

  39. ghost girl says:

i think it is also real

  40. cowboy says:

Freddy looks abet like a yang John Wane to me. This is a good storie and I thank a true one. Good pic.

  41. Anonymous says:

arent there 2 men standing behind people in that picture? or am i just looking at the wrong thing…. im confused where he is

  42. Anonymous says:

For a moment there I thought there was another face behind that of Freddie’s.
I love this site! I can not wait to check out the new stories everyday. I have never had any paranormal experiences, I’m not sure if I should be glad about that or not…
    Marle

  43. Ghostie says:

That pic is atleast a bitt creepy.. Anyone that is confused, te smaller pic includes a REAL man, behind to the right is a man. He looks evil to me… Thats just me.

  44. paris says:

it coud of been a family member or dad or grand father or uncle which ever one or a stranger i dont care thats cool as cause i see ghosts but i do get scared

  45. Leia says:

I believe this photo to be real. And i have a feeling that the ghost didn’t even realise he had passe away. He was just getting on with what he had to do. Either that, or it was his way of letting his friends know that he was still around and that he was ok. I wonder if his ghost is still around or whether he had crossed over yet or not.

  46. sachin says:

i think this is a nice picture. this is a scary photo
