The Haunted Historic Cary House Hotel
The Gold Rush Hotel in California Has Ghost Residents too!
Since the era of 1800’s turbulence, the Cary House Hotel has emerged with an undeniable arrogance that can only be understood by the strong and unyielding. The Historic CARY HOUSE HOTEL is a survivor! As a glimpse of history, a brochure we picked up inside the front desk stated, “The Cary House Hotel” is “An elegant glimpse of the past featuring private baths, central heat and air conditioning with King and Queen suites available.” It is also reported “Cary House for nearly 150 years has been a resting place of the weary traveler visiting Placerville, the Gold Country, and points beyond. The hotel featured such luxuries as hot and cold running water, an elegant grand staircase and a lobby of handcrafter mahogany and cherry woods.”
“Echoes from a colorful history linger. In the early days, the Cary House was a regular stop for the stage lines bringing travelers to Placerville …
Haunted Bed And Breakfast?
I’ve always wanted to see a ghost, have a ghostly encounter, anything to do with the paranormal, ever since I was a little girl. Finally, I think I got my wish. It wasn’t as epic and dramatic as most stories, but it was enough for me.
As I said above, I love hearing/seeing things to do with the paranormal. So, I decided to help my chances of it happening it to me by going to a bed and breakfast with my ex (boyfriend at the time) in Gettysburg, PA. A good local place to start I thought.
We picked out a quaint Bed and Breakfast that was civil war era. The room we had was a “suite,” with a large room and private bathroom. The whole house was very nice, the owner was pleasant. So we lugged our stuff up the stairs to our room.
The Golden Lady’s Necklace Seaside Hotel Ghost
This is a fictional twist on a story I’ve heard told in Massachusetts. There’s a seaside hotel that claims to be haunted by a lady in a blue dress that walks along the beach at night, staring out at the sea.
Ping Ping. The arrow pointing down illuminated and the old elevator doors creaked open for the young man. He sighed and stepped into the elevator, pressed the button for the bottom floor. It was obvious something was causing him distress as he sighed and ran his fingers through his brown hair. The elevator pinged twice more when it reached his destination. He slowly walked across the grand lobby of the old hotel. The floor was filled with light dazzling off the many large, ancient crystal chandeliers despite the lateness of the hour.
He crossed the lobby without noticing any of the grandeur, the rustic mahogany furniture and the few people lounging elegantly at the bar. He made his way, …
Ghost Soldier In Hotel
Before this experience I myself was a skeptic – not believing in any ghost story – however this has changed my opinion completely.
Me and my friend Becky work at a hotel which was built on top of an old hospital, used during the war to treat injured soldiers.
When we were working late one night, we heard squeaking coming from the corridor. However, when I checked to see if anyone was there, the hall was empty. The noise sounded as if it passed right by me but there was nothing to be seen. We found that past employees had heard the same noises.
A month later an advertiser was in taking pictures of the hotel. When the pictures were developed we were horrified to see a man with an army uniform in a wheelchair looking round the door to the lounge into the very same corridor.
The manager then decided to tell us that a guest reported that her …
Am I Being Watched By A Ghost?
Submitted by Ale
Ever since I moved to this new trailer I have been experiencing many ghost encounters. When we barely bought the house, there were two holes by my room. One on the wall and the other on my door. We don’t know what happened. My dad fixed the hole on the wall but not the one on my door.
My first night there was weird. I had been hearing voices in my sleep. At first I heard a really loud sigh in my sleep that woke me up. A week later I heard a little girl talk and say, “Hey, Ale.”
I heard her again a week later and said, “Come over here!”
After a month it was hard for me to sleep so my mom bought me some tea for sleep and natural sleeping pills (not wit drugs!). Since then I have been unable to sleep with the light off or the TV off.
Then, yesterday I …
Ghosts In The Delta Chelsea Hotel
Submitted to us by K.
Hello, here is my story. My parents and I went to Toronto for a week because my mom had broken her foot and needed the hospital there, I was 13.
We stayed at the Delta Chelsea there for a couple of nights, and on the 3rd night I believe, I woke up in the hotel room and I saw a really dark figure in the corner of the room leaning over my dad’s part of the bed and moving around, like he was packing. I figured it was my dad but something wasn’t right.
So I called to him “dad?” over and over again but he didn’t even look at me. Then on the eighth call I woke my mom and she yelled at me. I ignored it and I asked very worried if dad was still in the bed with her. I heard my dad grunt and sigh and I looked back up at …
The Haunted Stanley Hotel of Estes Park
Did you see Stephen King’s The Shining? The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado (About 45 minutes away from Boulder) was King’s inspiration for the movie. The hotel has been reported to be haunted be a few ghosts.
The Shining wasn’t shot at the hotel even though many people think it was. When King began work on the novel he actually locked himself up in room number 217.
When the Stanley Hotel opened it’s doors in 1909 it was the only hotel anywhere in the world to have electric power. The hotel was originally owned by Lord Dunraven and was later sold to Stanley Steamer inventor F. Stanley.
The ghost of Lord Dunraven has been reported to haunt the 4th floor. A lot of ghost activity has been reported near the bathroom door of room number 407. Hotel guests have also reported hearing child ghosts playing and laughing in the 4th floor hallway.
The ghost of Stanley seems to prefer …
Ghosts at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs
Submitted to us by Leslie Wilson
Just wanting to get away for a few days, my daughter and I headed north to Eureka Springs, AR. It’s been a goal of mine to visit the Crescent Hotel for many years.
The first thing we do when we arrive in Eureka Springs is get directions to this fabulous hotel. As we drive into the parking lot, I can already tell this is going to be an adventure. I grab my digital camera (with extra batteries) and start taking pictures.
We planned to take the “Ghost Tour” that night, but when we started to sign up, ‘something’ told me to wait, do this tour the ‘next’ night instead. So we went for a carriage ride that night, outside the Crescent Hotel. The ride was fun, breezy and very informative. (We were told a lot about the history of Eureka Springs). When our ride was over, we tried taking some pictures, but they were …
