A Visit from Grandfather’s Ghost

Posted on November 2, 2009

A Visitation for the Dogs and a Precious First Granddaughter

I had a story about dog and ghost too that recently has just crossed my mind. It is not my own experience. It’s my mother and grandmother from my father’s side that experienced it.

My grandfather from my father’s side loved dogs and had quite a lot of dogs throughout his life. Almost all his relatives love dogs. There was one unusual thing that happened around his death. One of his dogs was suddenly upset as if it knew that my grandfather had just died and it let out a long, long sad howl. It loved my grandfather a lot and it felt so lonely and sad that it kept waiting next to the gate of my grandfather’s house for days after days. Maybe it wished that my grandfather would come home through the gate like usual.

One afternoon suddenly the dogs became very excited and hopping around the gate as if they were greeting somebody included the upset one. It was suddenly very happy, but no one there. My grandmother saw this and was confused, because she saw no one near there, yet the dog suddenly was so playful toward an empty air as if somebody was there.

Around the time my older sister was just born and brought to home, the dogs would often suddenly became happy in the afternoon around 6 pm. They would hop around and wag their tails although no one was around and no one coming. Well, the dogs happy, but not my older sister who was just a baby. She made a noise as if she was mad at something, although no one bothered her nor did she need something. It was the same noise as if she was mad from being teased. My sister hadn’t yet received a baptism around that time.

Here the important point. My grandfather only had sons and he wished he had a daughter. He loved little girls. My grandmother said to my mom to call someone to get rid off whatever bothered my sister, since the house was old and there were spirits who resided there before. She said it might be another spirit that came. However, my mother said “It is okay. Just let it go. It must be Dad who came to play with her. It’s poor of him if you drive him away. Since he has longed for a daughter, he must be happy to finally have a granddaughter.”

Actually, my grandmother had the exact same thought that it must be grandfather, so that’s why the dogs were so excited when it happened. They were happy to see my grandfather coming.

After my sister received baptism it never happened again. She was always calm in the afternoon. Probably he couldn’t tease my sister anymore because of the baptism. Poor him though. He also couldn’t come to tease his second granddaughter, me, before I got my baptism since my house already got a blessing.

this is very scar6y considering the fact that every night my dog, purdy, barks at the door. thinking he wants to go to the toilet we let him out, but he just stands on the decking and then points his nose and starts sniffing. then on one very peculier night we decided to ask my dog what it was and he strangley nodded his head to a picture of my grandfather, in a way this makes me comforted knowing he is still with us ! :)

dogs are so very dedicated to there owners!! i know i have one who looks at corners and once one of his toys jumped straight into the air by itself, i was only 2 or 3 feet from it. i hope your grandfather did make it to the otherside!! and that would have been a happy moment to see your dogs so happy to see there master even tho you couldn’t. thanks for a happy paranormal experience!!

    Hi Mellisa,

Very heartwarming and nice story. Thank you so much for sharing with everyone. Your grandfather sure was a special guy! I know that he’s looking down from Heaven and is so very proud of you and the rest of his grandchildren and, I’m sure, great-grandchildren!

I’m sure that was your grandfather was teasing with your sister, making her laugh and make faces like cute little babies do. I know that he was beaming with so much pride from Heaven, that he finally had two precious little granddaughters.

Hey Mellisa, did you have a nice Halloween? Did you win the contest for the best costume at work? It was kind of quiet at work on Friday, due to most everyone taking time off to go to Fantasy Fest in Key West. On Halloween, my hubby and I went to have chinese food for lunch and then came home and let those crazy drivers from Miami have the road…LOL!

Again, very nice story Mellisa. Thank you for sharing. You have a great evening :)
