It was late in the Christmas holidays of summer 2009. I had my two friends over, Alex and Nim. It was around 11 pm and it was a hot night. We were out the back of my house, my parents in bed, rolling some joints.
My house is weatherboard, on wooden stilts, and it vibrates as you walk through the house. Never ever have I had anything paranormal happen to me before this.
We were just sitting around talking, when we heard some thumps through my house, fast, rapid, heavy footsteps. About four in a row, then they’d stop for a minute, and off they go again. I went inside and walked through my house to check if my parents had gotten up, all was dark and they were both sound asleep. So I thought nothing of it and back out to continue our conversation. The thumps continued, and Nim started looking really worried and shifty. (We didn’t actually smoke up that night at all, so we were all completely sober).
They kept going through my house. Alex had a lot of stuff in her past, her house used to be haunted by a demonic ghost. Her whole family has a sixth sense for that kind of stuff, lots of stories there, but they’re not mine to tell. So she was no skeptic and was instantly freaked out.
Nim proceeded to tell us about how a ghost had been following her for the past week. Things such as seeing a figure at her bed, breathing on her, unexplained sudden temperature changes, her bed dipping down as if someone was leaning on it.
I wasn’t worried at all. Alex and Nim started freaking out, so we went inside to my room with my cat. I’m not sure if it is true, but I told them that nothing will hurt them as long as my cat is here because whatever is here, will be scared of it. I know this probably isn’t true, but it put their minds at peace a little.
Alex and Nim where in my double bed while I was sitting on the end. Feather, my cat started scratching and screeching, making really weird noises, noises I’ve never even heard a cat make before, she was really distressed. That didn’t make my friends feel any better. I told them I was just going to go and get some food and drinks and told them to stay in my room.
I stepped into the lounge room and closed the door to my room behind me. Four steps in and I knew something wasn’t right. I felt a sense of someone watching me, standing right in front of me. I froze, terror rushed over me. Then, whispering, it was whispering something to me, in a counting sort of fashion. I was too scared to take notice of what it was saying, I don’t know what it said but it was like huhh…huhhh…hhhooo. I turned as quickly as I could and ran back out to my room shutting the door abruptly behind me.
Although I did not want to scare them, I told them what I had just come across. Nim said she didn’t want to talk or think about it anymore. She told us that it feeds of our fear and the more we think about it the stronger it will get. So we continued to make light conversation.
Feather was tearing around my room meowing. While I was sitting on the end of the bed I felt my hand go cold. Like someone had just put ice on it. It then moved to my opposite shoulder and then onto my ribs. Where I was sitting, I felt the bed lean down like someone else sat down on it behind me, although I had not moved an inch.
Alex asked if I was okay, I exchanged glances with Nim, as though asking her if I could talk about it. She just nodded for me to speak. I told them what I had just felt, Alex then proceeded to tell us how she had felt breathing on her neck and a weight on her shoulder.
The rest of the night we traveled to the toilet together, all four of us, my cat included. We then dozed off to sleep.
That was about four months ago. Nothing had happened before that, nor has it afterward. I believe there was something that followed Nim to my house, I’m not sure if it was good or bad, but it’s gone. I kind of wish it had stayed to feed my odd fascination with ghosts and such. But that is all.
We were fourteen at the time this happened. Thanks for reading.
