Grandpa Sinkes' Ghost In The Basement

In 1996, I was 10 years old. My parents had divorced and my father was getting remarried. During this time, my father wanted to move in with his new girlfriend who is my step mother still to this day.

Two weeks after we had moved in bats flew out of a crack in the wall of the basement. This was an unfinished basement at the time and me and my younger sister slept down there in the main area. I constantly heard noises, some that sounded like metal and steel banging against another; footsteps going up and down the stairs; the washer and dryer turning off and on constantly. This lasted throughout the years.

In 2002, my father finished the basement. He put in a living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a laundry room. In late 2002 my step mother's father passed away. One day after his funeral my sister who had the other bedroom in the basement with me came running into my room while I was in bed with my partner at the time. She was screaming, saying that she had seen Grandpa Sinkes, my step mother's dad.

When me and my friend walked into the room with her, he was sure enough sitting on her bed. I was so shocked I could not speak. My friend asked him what he was doing, Grandpa got up, walked over to us, and had this sinister grin on his face and disappeared.

Our dad didn't believe us, and talked down to us for even saying that, since Grandpa had just passed away and our step mother was still in shock. At 4 a.m. my sister woke and her water had broke. She was 15 years old, and 8 months pregnant. The child was still born. My sister told me a week later that she woke up to Grandpa Sinkes rubbing her stomach and as soon as she jumped up his ghost was gone and her water broke. This is just the beginning of the events.

Later on I learned that Grandpa Sinkes had built the house for our step mom, he poured the concrete in the basement, built the fireplace, and most of the house. I found this to be very interesting and frightening. After that I moved in with my mother and so did my sister. I was scared to death.

In 2005 I moved back in to get some things with my life straightened out. I was on house arrest, and my dad and step mom went on vacation for a week. I could only leave to go to work. I woke up with the doorbell ringing at 3:16 a.m. There was no one there. As I was walking down the stairs back to my room, I heard a man calling my name. When I entered my bedroom there was what looked like to be oil running down my walls.

I ran upstairs, didn't know if I was dreaming or not. I slept in my dad's bed that night. I called my best friend and asked her to stay with me until my dad and step mother came back.

The second night she was there I woke up and the alarm clock said 3:16 a.m. and she appeared to be dead, a ghost like figure laying next to me staring right at me. I said her name and shook her. No response. So I closed my eyes and laid there. When I opened them she was gone.

I went upstairs to see if she was in the spare room and she wasn't, her car was gone. She didn't return my calls for a week. She told me she was too scared to come to my house any longer. Three months ago she told me why. She said she woke up to get something to drink that night and a man walked up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. She said she thought it was me but out of the corner of her eye she saw fingernails that where very long and had dirt on them. She said she ran to the bedroom and locked the door. The ghost knocked on the door and said, "I know your in there, if you fall asleep here you won't wake up, get out now".

She told me she grabbed her purse and went out the bedroom window. I moved out several months after. My best friend was at my house last week and we where looking at our pictures from high school, and we came across a picture of Grandpa Sinkes. She said "that's the ghost". She never met him when he was alive. And I never went into detail about the hauntings. I figured she wouldn't believe me like no one else would, until they actually saw it for themselves.

I'm writing this tonight because I'm looking for help. I've been researching for a paranormal expert or someone I can talk to who believes. I think Grandpa Sinkes has came to haunt me at my house finally. I don't know what I did to him or why he likes to scare me, but it's getting tiring. My sister is living with me. She's pregnant again, and due March 16th.
