Third Floor Ghost
May 4, 2008
Three years ago I moved into a flat with my friend Richard, it was the first place we looked at, but snapped it up straight away as it was part of a mansion; so we couldn’t say no.
About one year later I was going through a very stressful period at work and also with my girlfriend. One week night I was sitting on my bed watching a C4 documentary, when out of my peripheral vision I could sense slight movement, but I ignored this and carried on watching the TV.
All of a sudden, a pile of clothes flung off the side of a table, and the rest proceeded to follow but very slowly; as if being tipped at the back and stopped at the front (lasted about fifteen seconds). My reaction to this, was to keep staring at the TV and pretend I hadn’t seen it.
Some other strange event’s followed - plates would rattle and shift in the cupboards, doors that would be locked, would be found wide open in the morning - dull thud’s started coming from the chimney next to my bed on a daily bases. At first I put this down to muffled ambience coming from noisy neighbors, but then standing 100 meters away from the house I realized there wasn’t another room beyond the chimney (please bare in mind, this was a very tall mansion) and you can’t see much from ground level.
On some occasions, discarded bottle tops and other small objects ould somehow make contact with furniture across the room and my guitar string’s would mysteriously prang by themselves. It got to the point were I had to lay my guitar’s face down every night. I heard loud crashes coming from my flatmates room when he was out.
It got to the point were Richard got so scared he moved out and went to stay at his grandma’s house. Every now and then light’s would flicker, but I don’t think that this is that uncommon.
The last subtle but strange thing that happened was, one night I had woken up by the unusually loud volume of the TV,so I rummaged around for the control, which I spottedĀ across the room - as I stood up, I glanced at the TV for a couple of seconds and it switched off. Now I ask myself, what are the chances of the TV switching itself off ten (or so) seconds after me waking up and looking at it?
After three odd months of trying to ignore these noises , it suddenly seized. I moved out another year after that and I’m finding it much easier to find things, apart from that pesky TV controller.

Wow your a brave man, but now days I ignore things like that when they happen too, but not on my first time around.
