Some of these inconsistencies are a little scary. Maybe these ghosts can do more than we think they can, and sometimes what seems to be happening isn't really happening anywhere except in the mind of the observer. I've read quite a few stories here and other sites. I get the idea that sometimes that these kinds of sounds are not real, that is to say whatever your brain is observing isn't coming from your ears. I think that these "sounds" are being created and transmitted directly to the brain..., that is why some people in the same room do not hear what someone else is "hearing." Don't attempt to communicate in any way with these beings. Seems that once you open a conversation with a ghost you may get a lot more than what you bargain for..., and don't tell them they are "welcome" in your home. Don't believe me? Keep reading and you'll find others have suffered for being careless. It's OK to tell them to leave, they might not like it, and that is no guarantee they won't come back. One story I read there was the sound of footsteps on hardwood floors where a ghost was walking up and down the hallway all night long. Turns out that the hallway was actually carpeted.
