The Nottingham Hotel

Posted on April 15, 2009

This did not happen to me, nor did I know anyone in it. However, it is as true as they come. There was a woman, her sister and her son driving along near a forest in Nottingham. They were not familiar with the area, and it was nearing evening, so they turned up a driveway towards a hotel. After seeing a black shape shoot across the road, and deciding it was a very large crow, they found the hotel. They checked in with the receptionist, who was wearing grey, and went to their room, number 24. There was no-one else staying at the hotel at the time. The son, Alex, asked if he could go and play in the woods and, as he was 11, was allowed for an hour.

Two hours passed and he was not back. It was nearing seven now and he had a watch. At eight they went to look for him. They went down stairs and asked the receptionist if she had seen him, and she said she had seen him leave but not return. They went to look till eleven, then the sister went to call the police at reception. The woman returned to the hotel a few minutes later but the receptionist and sister were gone. She figured they’d gone somewhere to meet the police so went back to her room.

What she found was unbelievable. It was the remains of her son. His head was on the pillow, eyes open due to no eyelids remaining, and no eye in the sockets, his nose and ears had been torn off too.He had no teeth or tongue. His intestines were on a spinning fan on the ceiling, and his arms, legs, and torso were in a pentacle, nailed to the wall. his private parts were on the light switch. Blood was on the wall, underneath the pentacle, stating ‘your son is dead. you are next.’

She ran downstairs, past the still empty reception desk, and got into the car. She had been driving for about 10 minutes before getting onto a motorway, or dual carriageway, I’m not sure. She looked in her mirror and saw her sister on the back seat. She turned round to see her but there was a black shape. It laughed and then the car flipped over, crushing her. She was rushed to hospital and that was the story she told in her two hours of life she had left. She was classed as mental as the hotel never existed, it has always been a forest.

Here are some facts I’ve found out:

There is a plague pit in the forest.

There was a WW1 hospital there.

There were more disappearances there in 2007 than there were suicides in Nottingham.

It often becomes unmapped on satellite imagery.

At the accident scene witnesses said they heard a scream, then the car ‘leaped; into the air where it imploded and landed upside down. They also said black smoke left the car a few minutes before a fire started.

Please comment.

Nice story but i’d need more evidence than that to believe it. I want to but i can’t as of now. I’m not saying you have to convince me but more evidence would be greatly appreciated (a website or something).

Wow!! maybe in the past there was some evil spirits that died with grudge and start attacking people to accompany them to death. or maybe there are demons there that like to harm people. anyway it must be spiritually dangerous area. perhaps there was a hotel in the past but it isn’t there anymore. that’s why there is a hotel illusion there appear to that woman. she might have enter a place that living human shouldn’t come.
about satellite has problem accessing the area, maybe some mysterious power lingering around and cover it that disturb the view from the satellite
that place must be a trap to harm people

UGH, it’s freaky! that’s why i don’t like old hotel or old motel!! better not to spend night in an unknown places!! if i was her i will continue drive and better spend money on more expensive but safe hotel. the location is pretty weird too.

  10. Ryan says:

First of all, it is Nottingham in England, but the hotel isn’t actually IN Nottingham, i just used Nottingham as a major place to refer to to say wehereabouts it is.
Secondly, the sister disappeared after going to phone the police.
Finally, everything that i have said in the story is WHAT THE WOMAN SAID BEFORE DYING, so there is a chance her subconscious came up with the story, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. All i’m saying is, how would she come up with all that? And her sister and son were never found.

Sorry, the FOREST where the hotel incicdent took place isn’t in Nottingham. As i’ve said, the hotel doesn’t exist.

I’ve noticed i’ve been slightly inaccurate. Although relatively close to nottingham, it is nearer to Sheffield, so i should have wrote that in the title instead. If you have google Earth, type in Nottinham and wait till it finds it. Then zoom out until you see Mansfield. Zoom in there until you can see Shirebrook. Move North-East towards a blurred point where the image is blurred. You will notice a small forest. This is where the incident is said to have took place.

I have lived in sheffield for about 53 years and a while back i heard about some mysterious disappearences around that area. Also a good friend of mine heard about a kid called alex disappearing a few years ago and was never found. It is good to have a story to back up the disappearences i have heard about. I will continue to do some research on this.

I doubt that something paranormal did this.
It takes a bit more than an hour to do all the stuff that happened to the body, too, so I doubt that a human could pull an entire ear and nose off. Unless he used something very sharp.
Let me erase what I said earlier.
She went downstairs, for how long of a time, if you know, ryan, please tell.
Let’s say it was 5 mins, since that’s usually how long it takes.
You can’t exactly spray blood onto a wall, much less do it fast enough so that it’s thick enough to write on.
Seperating a head from a body takes tremendous strength, even if you have a sharp weapon.
She would have heard the hammering as the nails her son’s body parts were driven into, no?
In other words, I don’t think she was mentally healthy.
Thank you for publishing ryan, wether it was true or not, it was most definitely scary.

To be honest, I HOPE TO GOD IT ISN’T TRUE!

I come from Sheffield and I know of a place called Stocksbridge that has had alot of hauntings, even the police have witnessed aparitions as they were staking out a building in Stocksbridge. The security guard had flipped after repeatedly seeing ghosts, so he called the police. I’m going to go and ask my friend more about this story as i was only discussing it with him a few days ago for an article for my website.

I don’t know how i nearly missed this story. It’s incredible how so many of us are near the location, or used to live near.

Thanks for what you have said, Phil and Jackie. I see you have quite a knowledge on disappearences. More info would be appreciated Phil, and more and Stocksbridge Jackie. I will check that on a map, just to check whereabouts it is.

I’ve just checked Stocksbridge, and it seems to be on the other side of Sheffield. There are some hills and small woods near there though;do you know anything about underground tunnels around there because there are some underground Roman escape routes in the forest where the incident took place that have been filled in.

  24. Mellisa says:

underground tunnels of roman escape? it must be really old. seems to by this sheffield area full of mysterious things.

  25. Phillip says:

I’ve heard about those tunnels. My brother, Roger, is a historian, and has done quite a bit of work on ancient Rome. He said there are entrances East of Sheffield which may be connected to others as far away as Newcastle, Blackpool and even Dover cliffs. There is quite a possibility they are connected to some in the hills near Stocksbridge.

  26. Roger says:

I am a historian. My brother, Phillip, asked me to tell you some information about the area. I can confirm everything about the tunnels and what you mentioned about the WW1 hospital. I have yet to receive findings on the plague pit, but it does not seem too unlikely. As for Stocksbridge, it has quite a history. There have been an unusually high number of reportings of Victorian-related supernatural activity. There is and old building in the area, that used to be a prison in the Dark ages, which is most likely the building that Jackie mentioned when she said about the police seeing apparitions. They are more often seen in old prisons and hospitals, for obvious reasons, but that is another subject. As for the tunnels, I know of some in the west Midlands connecting Hartelbury castle to a place called Stourport, so it is more than likely that the tunnels were used as escape from a castle in Roman times near Sheffield. Although i strongly doubt the tunnels stretching as far as Dover cliffs, It is quite possible. A problem would be all the digging, building and excavating going on in the modern world would have caved most in, so we will have to remain unwise on that at the moment. Long before Romans, in the time of the Cavemen, there may have been a vast amount of human exploration and activity there, as in a project in about a mile west of Stocksbridge a few years back i was called in to examine some drawings in a cave that was found behind a huge door-shaped boulder and they seemed to be about 10 000 years old, so they called in an expert on the subject. The outcome of that project is presently unavailable to me, so I will wait until I have access to it and report when I find out more. This is a very interesting story indeed, one which I certainly will try to go more in-depth in in a quest to uncover the origins of.

Ryan- Your story is certainly a dilly! It hits very close to all of us that an innocent occurance as stoppiong for a motel would lead to such tragedy… Thanks to Phillip & Roger both there is plenty of facts to back up that land….personally I believe it is true to a point…. some land is just more subject to the paranormal than others and this land 9from it’s past) has a lot of reasons why there is an evil lurking in and about the woods… Great tale! Thanks!
