The place was a gig Georgian-style mansion, with several associated out buildings, including a barn, "machine shops", and a "servant's house". The family had suffered a number of misfortunes, until the last resident, Robert, I believe was his name, was committed. It was a really creepy place, big old house, well back from the road, in a sad state of neglect. There were local legends that during the 20s - 30s a daughter of the family (Rachael) was murdered by her mother and the body dumped in a coal mine. Oddly, there used to be a coal mine very close to the property, if not actually a part of the property. Supposedly Rachael's ghost haunted the rest of the family into madness. The main house burned down around Halloween back in the late 70s, probably due to kids back there drinking and partying. I haven't been back that way in over 30 years.
