The Haunted Frame

Posted on September 20, 2009

My five year old brother told me one day he used to see something watching me sleep from my ceiling. I dismissed this until I remembered the activity in my Queens, NY apartment around the time he claimed to have seen it. In my 7 plus years in the apartment there had never been any activity until I was about 15. My mom was constantly putting things up in my room, one of them being a picture of The Last Supper. I of course didn’t mind, since our whole family is very religious.

Eventually strange activity would emerge. It began when I started seeing green or yellow orbs fly past me while watching TV. I was always fascinated with the paranormal so I thought the orbs being associated with a ghost was too good to be true. So I ignored them.

One day I was playing a videogame and a huge sphere of black mist swung in front of me. I immediately told my parents but they refused to believe me. I guess the thought of “something evil” in our home full of religious people was ridiculous to them. My sisters never believed in ghosts so they didn’t believe me either. However that didn’t bother me, as a matter of fact I thought it was cool to finally have my own encounter with a ghost. (At the time I wasn’t aware black mist may be associated with evil spirits).

After awhile the orbs and mist stopped appearing and I came to the conclusion it was all in my head. My television frequently began to turn off and on. I figured it was its timer even though the timer could only switch the TV off and it would turn on and off way more than it should have. My cabinet doors would burst open in a violent manner. Yet for some reason I refused to get my hopes up that it was a ghost. So I blamed it on the wind no matter how impossible it was. Eventually the activity spread to rooms near mine. I would hear heavy foot steps outside my room. My bathroom door would slam constantly. One occasion I heard blood curdling screeches. My apartment always had an infestation problem, but during this time, not a single mouse entered my room. When I was out, my sister would text me saying how she saw “balls of light” in my room or that the bathroom door keeps opening and closing by itself or if I left the TV on. Despite my sister witnessing strange things herself, my mom still did not believe us.

One day I was upstairs at my friends apartment. We decided to go down to my apartment when parents left to watch wrestling, since they had the nice TV. I headed downstairs while my friend went to buy snacks. As I approached my door I heard pots and pans tumbling. I thought it was an intruder so I waited until my friend came down so we can take him on. I opened the door and since the kitchen was near the entrance I noticed the pots and pans weren’t as messy as I thought they would be but still disorganized. We decided to split up and check each room. Nobody. We met up in the living room and before I could explain what I heard the television and lights began turning on and off in a frenzy. Not that afraid, we went to get snacks since my friend never got the chance. Before I left I locked my room door. When we came back, the windows were open, my door had been unlocked and open and my VCR was on. I grabbed holy water and began sprinkling it around the apartment.

I came home from school one day and my mom told me she spoke to one of her friends. According to her friend, there was a religious goods store that had sold a woman a Jesus statue. Since she brought it home, her house went insane with sinister activity. Apparently this store was also selling pictures of the Last Supper. My mother immediately went to bless my room. She put on some gloves and took the picture off of my wall. At that moment, she said she felt a cold rush fly through her body as the hair on her arms stood up. (My mother would never lie to tell my friends I wasn’t home) She through the frame out in the garbage.

Since then nothing strange has occurred. However now I am starting to believe the force in my room may have been a poltergeist. At the time I was a very vengeful and angry person. I would constantly think of taking my anger out by submitting to gang life. But I could never do it for the sake of my little brother. I refused to talk to anyone, leaving my inner conflicts unresolved. So I suppressed them. Could my encounters have been caused by an item infused with negativity, or my own negativity forcing its way out? Whatever it was, it seemed to grow. Despite my desire to see something of the paranormal, I’m glad this one was stopped before it could harm those around me.

Maybe it’s one of those stores that sell cursed objects, although I don’t know why religious objects would be possessed!

maybe someone who owned or was associated with the store had a vendetta against God or was bitter against God or religious people/Christians, and so purposeflly cursed those objects.. either way, not cool…
