The Ghost in the TV

Posted on August 31, 2009

I started living here when I was six. I live here with my mum, brother and step-dad. I moved her seven years ago when I was six and was glad to be out of the hostel we were living in. Nothing really happened in the past, most likely because I didn’t think about things much, but after what happened that night I will never forget.

When I was 12 I was sitting on my bed when my door suddenly slammed shut. “I better close my window,” I thought, “The wind must have blown it shut”. I got up to close it, but I couldn’t, it was already shut. My insides turned cold, “just a freak accident” I told myself.

After that had happened I spent the rest of the day downstairs and eventually forgot about it. But about a month after that it had been a week after my 13th birthday and I had woken up in the middle of the night with a cold draught whipping my face. I sat up and pulled my duvet around me and looked around my room… nothing. But then I looked at my TV. A face looked at me intently from the screen, it was the face of a boy, he looked around 18. His face was so kind I forgot my fears and laughed. He smiled and disappeared.

After he had left I laid down and rested until I fell asleep. I dreamed about him and realized that he was my brother Ben who had died at birth… and would now be 18. I haven’t seen his face for a while but I know he’s still there because every now and then someone playfully flicks my arm or a cold breeze brushes past me when no windows are open. Sometimes I’ll sit there and my black Labrador puppy Wookiee (who I got for my 13th birthday) will stop and freeze staring at a space near me or next to me and make funny whining noises as if to say “he’s sitting next to you”.

Ben is quite good company sometimes but things can get a bit freaky… like if he’s in my room at night I can see white wisps in the shape of an 18 year old boy and a big black dog (who I think is a black Labrador and greyhound cross called Brin. Brin used to be my mums dog) and if I’m on my own doors can sometimes slam mysteriously… but its not all bad. At least now I have a chance to know the brother I should have had.

I’m sorry about your brother, my brother passed on 16 years ago. I also get this strange thing that happens to me from time to time, not all the time though, I will be standing in a room and a drop of water will fall out of nowhere and touch my face, no I’m not kidding. Once it happend to my daughter too, she was in the kitchen and she said “where did that water just come from”…………no explination, maybe it’s tears from heaven!

    Karen M.,
Wow! that is fasinating. I’ve lost both my parents and would love to have some sort of sign from them that they are ok, I’m sorry about you losing your brother. Loss never gets any easier, only easier to tolerate.

    Laura,
What an interesting story. Just be careful, sometimes spirits can seem harmless at first, only to gain your trust.

DarStarr, thank you, my sister also passed on last October, and before I heard the news from the U.S ( 6 hour time difference), I was looking out my kitchen window and in the clouds, I saw a man sitting in a high backed throne and to his right was another man in a flowing robe, no need to explain who! I took pics with my cell phone, but the only thing that came up was a hole in the cloud, where the image was, people told me that’s cause I was the only one meant to see it! Normally it’s my father who see things, but he said “guess you must be taking over for me” ha ha!
