Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

All of my strange experiences with the paranormal began when my parents bought this beautiful house that was actually on sale at a foreclosed value.  It was full of all sorts of garbage around it since it was abandoned for quite some time.

I was about 8 years old when I started to experience strange things in the house. Yes, I was that young, and the only reason why I remember, is because I was so scared and never experienced anything with the paranormal until them.

One night my sister and I decided to sleep in our parent’s room, since we were up watching some soap opera with our mom. My mom always kept a small inflatable mattress for us in her room.  In the middle of the night I could have sworn that I heard the heavy footsteps of my mom getting up to use the bathroom. I even heard the door open and close so I was definitely sure that it was someone. After some time went by, I never heard her come back. Therefore I looked up to her bed, she was there lying next to my dad, sound asleep, they never got up. I just hid under the sheets and stayed up till morning. I never told anyone about it, since I thought they would have made fun of me.

The next night, I did not want to sleep alone so I begged my sister to sleep next to me. I thought I was so safe, given that I had her next to me, I was wrong. At about 4am, I woke up because someone was tapping my shoulder. Since it felt like human hands, I thought it was my mother so I ignored it because I just wanted to sleep. However the tapping continued, since I slept with the covers over my face, I took them off to see who was trying to wake me up. I saw nothing! So, I hid under the blankets again, the tapping continued. I just started screaming as loud as I could until I was sure that I heard my parent’s voice, asking me what was wrong. I described everything to my parents of what happened.

For some reason they believed me, when I thought they would not.  My dad just started lighting white candles and praying.  It just so happened, my parents were strong believers in Santeria, and told me not to be afraid.  My mom started telling me that not all ghost are bad, it could have been a relative trying to reach out to me, such as my grand father whom I never met because he passed before I was born.  That was her way in trying to calm me down, although I was still freaking out.
