Haunted Darwin 7

Further to my previous stories of which there are many and more recently about “Kevin” my resident spook in my defense home in Darwin, Australia. Kevin decided last night he would prove he was still present.

My husband is army and had been deployed away from home for the last 2 years and finally returned home in December 2010 ‘for good’ (as impermanent as that may be, as any army wife will tell you).

The house is in general disarray, filled with boxes of his gear and his unpacking needing to be done, as no-one quite had the time to get around to it over the Christmas / New Year period.

So if you pardon the pun my house, looks like a bomb has hit it.

Last night after a hectic schedule of unpacking and then re-packing the items we want to go to storage, hubby retired early but I stayed up as I was putting some washing through the …

Haunted Darwin Australia 6

As to my previous stories, and recent notoriety with my ghost ” Kevin ” landing me on the front page of the Northern Territory News. I have had to field numerous radio interviews both National and International, live TV appearances and magazine coverage due to ” Kevin the horny ghost “. Yes, if you have come across the media coverage of the housewife with the horny ghost, that’s me! But as I tell my friends, I’m no housewife, I work full time for a living! And Kevin isn’t horny, as I told one interviewer, if he had grabbed my wrist in the kitchen, he would be no doubt labeled the hungry ghost! But Kevin is still present and going about his business.

As recently as Saturday 9/10/10, my son was in the dining room at 11.17 pm and on the PC when he looked up and noted the tall male figure standing in the doorway that leads into our lounge …

Haunted Darwin 5

Having had my previous experiences printed here and currently living in an army defense home, where I can’t really have my problem with an entity we have christened “Kevin” solved by a defense maintenance call (see previous stories) I find people now tend to volunteer to tell me their paranormal ‘stories’.

These were told to me by a woman I catch the bus with this morning.

My friend and her husband were preparing a BBQ in the house they only lived in a few months. Her husband was a skeptic, where my friend was more open minded. She had felt the house was a touch ‘weird’ since moving in but the husband thought her feelings were all a lot of phooey and dismissed them!

As he stood outside on the veranda working at the BBQ he felt a tug on his shirt, thinking it was his wife he turned and realized he could see her preparing salad in the kitchen. …

Haunted Darwin 4

Being notorious about my experiences of growing up haunted ( see previous stories ) I find people tend to tell me things.

This paranormal story came from my Tupperware dealer.

My dealer (which sounds so sordid – but if you saw my Tupperware cupboard you would perhaps agree I have some kind of addiction!)

confided to me of two paranormal experiences she had.

One happened when her husband was away working and she was asleep in bed. She felt the bed go down beside her and initially thought it was her 12 year old climbing into bed with her after a bad dream. Opening one eye to note her presence, she was surprised to realize there was no-one there… excepting she could still feel the bed being pressed down.

Opening both eyes and being fully awake she stared at the depression in the bed which didn’t change. By now quite startled she flicked on the bedside light only to see …

More Haunted Darwin Australia

Having an entity we have christened “Kevin” in my army house in Darwin, we have on occasion have had encounters with this angry male entity. ( see previous stories )

As recently as the first week of May, I found myself alone in the house for 2 weeks when my teenage children had to fly to Sydney suddenly for a funeral.

To my surprise, I realized I had never really been alone in the house for any great deal of time before, let alone 2 weeks!

The first week was uneventful and I enjoyed the tranquility of not having to pick up after teenagers!

However, one evening as I was on the computer I looked to my right down the full length of the house toward the loungeroom and by a window I seemed to glimpse for a split second, a black shape, reminiscent of a tall half a head and part of a shoulder moving extremely quickly across the …

Haunted Darwin Australia Part 3

Having an already established presence in our Darwin ‘army house’ whom we named ‘Kevin’ – recently Kevin decided after a period of inactivity to kick out!

Whether or not this was a paranormal experience or just coincidence I started to ‘feel’ Kevin was in my room again (see previous stories). Subsequently, without having said anything further when a sensitive friend dropped me home one night they made the joke “oh I can see Kevin by your bedroom window” and as Kevin is pretty much an accepted house guest we take for granted, I wished later I had asked if my friend had meant inside or outside! Later that same evening without having said anything to my children, my daughter, Nea claimed as she was feeding my cat in my bedroom ensuite she saw a white shape outside my bedroom window whom she thought may be Kevin as it looked like a tall person!

That night I dreamt Kevin hovered over …

Haunted Darwin Australia Part 2

Having already accepted a presence in my Darwin house we have christened ‘Kevin’ (see previous stories) which I had sensed since moving in, my son had seen and a sensitive friend had confronted to ‘back off’ after Kevin tried to climb into bed with me, my daughter had seemed immune.

My daughter, Nea had complained of feeling “creeped out” in the house and her bedroom. I suggested she ask her grandfather to come and watch over her. After Nea did this and an apparition of a man in a hat with a tailored outline suggesting a suit (my grandfather’s classic hallmark – see previous stories) appeared on her bedroom wall, Nea admitted she felt OK in her room now (if no where else).

Yesterday, Nea (being a typical teenage younger sister) tried to get her older brother Aaron in trouble and it back fired on her terribly. Aaron has often been seeing Kevin around the house, particularly at …

Haunted WW2 Vintage Aircraft in Darwin

Having accumulated some local notoriety in Darwin for having my experiences printed here, (Darwin is still a small town) I am now being approached by others to share their stories. This was told to me by our builder last week as he fixed our air conditioner.

The Darwin CBD has been built up and is now accruing a modern set of high rise apartments. First one must understand that Darwin was bombed by the Japanese during WW2 on 19/2/1942, in fact, by the same strike force that bombed Pearl Harbour a few months before on 7/12/1941. Aircraft engines from crashed planes were found in the CBD during recent excavations for new buildings.

This odd event happened to the builder’s father, who now lives in one of the new high rise apartments. He claimed he was awakened in the pre-dawn by the drone of multiple aircraft extremely close to his building and went out on to his balcony to see what …

Haunted Darwin Australia

Having recently had my experiences displayed on this web site and having encouraged my friends (who have been reading my stories for years ) to log on and see for themselves, word of mouth soon meant people have started coming to me with their ghost stories! A current theme was, at least they knew I wouldn’t think they were crazy!

My daughter’s boyfriend is 16 and like my kids, also an ‘army brat’ who has lived in various military homes all over Australia. Davis (his name changed to protect his identity) told me that when they had their first posting to Darwin when he was small, they were in an ordinary suburban house where a transparent Asian man would appear in the doorway of the bathroom. As he was young, the bathroom door was left open while he bathed and he is adamant the Asian man would appear spontaneously in the same place every time. Depending on if you were …

Haunted Sydney – The Rocks and Quarantine Station

Australians have a long history with ghosts. Our second national anthem, “Waltzing Matilda” includes a ghost who returns afterwards to the water hole where he had been shot by English soldiers. While defeated in a referendum, this was almost the Australian National Anthem! I think we may be the only country who nearly stood, tall and proud to sing about a ghost! Now that’s the ‘ol never say die attitude!

In Sydney, “The Rocks” area is very popular with Ghost Hunts as many of the original buildings from 1800 still stand and some lanes still even have original cobble stones from 200 years ago! 200 years ago it was a poor area and mostly contained a ghetto of the poorer folk, though now it is a gentrified part of the Sydney CBD and one of the most expensive parts of Sydney! I think that would have some of the poorer folk turning in their graves!

On one Rocks tour in …

Fishers Ghost Festival in Liverpool Sydney

My mother’s haunted house is in Liverpool, Sydney, Australia. The next suburb over, called Ingleburn (and also home to Ingleburn Army base) is home to a very old Australian ghost story that goes back to convict days.

In convict days, Liverpool and Ingleburn were rural outposts of Sydney. On the evening of June 17, 1826 a Mr. Fred Fisher was at the local pub drinking with friends, but after leaving the pub Mr. Fisher disappeared without a trace. Mr. Fisher was a ‘ticket of leave man’, which means he was a paroled convict but just the same, he had managed to accrue some land, a horse and a small shack of a house. The local constabulary made enquiries but it was very difficult to prove anything without a body.

One of Mr. Fisher’s drinking partners that evening, George Worrell was adamant that Mr. Fisher had skipped town and gone back to England, with Mr. Fisher having conveniently given him power …

Growing up Haunted in Sydney Part 22

Have you read the previous parts of this story? Growing up Haunted in Sydney Part 1

Now living in a run down ‘army house’ in tropical Darwin, Australia with my teenage son and daughter while my husband was deployed, my son had finally revealed his experiences with the male presence we named “Kevin”. I had sensed Kevin since moving in March 09, my husband had seen Kevin once in July, my daughter just constantly complained of feeling ‘spooked’ but my son appeared to take the brunt of Kevin’s presence.

My son would describe leaving his bedroom of a night to go to the toilet and seeing Kevin standing at the verandah door just looking in. My son complained of the ‘constantly being watched’ sensation and that there had been times he believed Kevin had been in his room. Overall, an overwhelming feeling of anger and that ‘everyone hated him’ seemed to suddenly overcome my usual easy going son… but only …
