Growing up Haunted in Sydney Part 21

Have you read the previous parts of this story? Growing up Haunted in Sydney Part 1

My family and I have often had present the human members of our family after they have passed and our animal companions have been no different.

Bandit was a cattle dog / corgi cross – tan with a black eye patch of fur across his face (hence the name Bandit) that my Dad bought when I was three. The only conscious memory I have of my Dad, is the back of his head as he drove the car home the day we bought Bandit.

Bandit was the only constant in my life until he died when I was 18 and in my last year of High School. In his day, not even 6′ wooden fences could stop him escaping with his strong cattle dog shoulders, he’d just jump and power climb the vertical wooden wall until one day an encounter with a bus during …

Animals Ghosts and Strange Behavior

Apparently I come from a long line of mediums (my gran tells me), but I haven’t experienced any feelings or sensations, so I don’t really look into it. I do however love a good ghost story! I guess I believe in ghosts, but I’m not the type to assume that strange occurrences are ghosts, I firstly try to explain them away. Some however cannot be explained away such as the few small experiences I’ve had with animals.

First: When I was younger, about 8 I guess, I lived on a small holding (small farm) with my parents and grandparents. My grandparents had a few Yorkshire terriers and I remember one day going downstairs to see them and one of the dogs, named Netty, was staring at something in the middle of the room just to the side of me. She stared and I called her name over and over and started to wave my hand in front of her face. …

Shadow Dog and Invisible Entity

I’ve had two life-changing experiences that have made me think about a lot of things differently. First, let me say that my grandmother is a very religious woman and she has had spiritual dreams. This has been passed on to my mother, who has a more severity with things spiritual than my grandmother. She has heard things, she has seen things, and things have seen her.

My mother has a friend who is a preacher, who has told her numerous times to embrace the gift God has given her, and to be aware because there is something very special about the women side of our family and there will always be something in the darkness watching us.

So, with that being said, my mother has had her children baptized except for the youngest. Me. I have not been baptized and when I was younger and I have always had a problem going to church. Not that I didn’t want to …

My Ghost Watch Dog

I had initially found this house for rent on Craigslist. It was slightly weather beaten from a tornado last April, the almost two acre yard was horribly overgrown and the interior needed a coat of paint and new carpeting. After the owner LeeLee had given us the grand tour, and apologized profusely for the condition of the place from the storm and the previous tenants, I asked for a few moments inside alone. All was peaceful. I walked outside and nodded to my husband that the house was clear. House hunting for the spirit sensitive is to say the least, frustrating. As soon as he was assured there were no houseguests from the afterlife, he said “We’ll take it.”

It was my fortieth birthday when we pulled into the driveway of our new home. It had been a grueling twenty-four hour drive from Ohio in our minivan, with my husband following behind with the rented moving truck towing his car. …

The Peon’s Story – Dog From the Cemetery

Back in  1975 or thereabouts I spent a few weeks of the summer working as a “Peon” or casual labour hand with a team from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture which was then carrying out a forestry inventory, the practical part of which was done in the summer, the inventory itself to last about four years.

My job as a Peon consisted in accompanying a forestry technician to a particular region of the forest called a “parcela” or parcel and there I would, for example, be told to go to a given tree and measure its trunk and take samples of its wood. I would then call out the measurements to the team leader (the technician). In all we were three teams of two men each, the leader and a peon in each one.

I found this very invigorating work after teaching English in Madrid. There were no classes in the heat of summer as all my pupils had gone …

The Evil Horse Ghost

When I was 11 years old my horse died of cancer. I cried my eyes out and was sad for days. About two weeks after her death, I was walking with my friend, Lana. I went around to her house for a while until nine o’clock then I decided to go home. Lana was my neighbor and she has a horse too and we used to go riding together.

When I was walking across the paddocks I saw a white figure in my horse paddock where my horse was buried. The figure was in the shape of a horse and when I got nearer it turned its head and started running towards me. When it was about 10 feet away from me it faded away. I was really scared and I had to go through that paddock to get back to my house.

As I walked through the paddock I kept having this feeling that I wasn’t alone. I turned …

The Ghost Dog

My husband and I are Ebay sellers. We go to a lot of auctions. We mainly buy buttons and small vintage items. Sometimes we have to buy a whole box of stuff just to get one item in the box.

One late Friday night after returning from an auction I was at my computer with my back facing the lot boxes we had won that night. As I sat doing some item research I about jumped out of my chair as I heard a whistle behind my back! I turned slowly in my chair and looked at the window, even though it was late at night it was light outside because the streetlight is right in front of our home, there was no one to be seen in the window. Also I knew the whistle was behind me and came from within the house.

I turned and my eyes fell on the lot boxes. There was an old hat that …
