It was really bright because of the nearly full moon, and we could easily see the road and forest around us. I looked behind because I thought I'd heard a car, there was no car but I saw quite clearly something large walking on four legs from one side of the road to the other, it didn't stop or look in any direction but straight ahead. We ran into town pretty fast after that. It sounds a lot like the creature you described! I live in Australia and there are no bears or similar large animals here! Wow that really scared me!

But when I close my eyes at night and think on it, the way it recognized an oncoming vehicle after we first sighted it and went down the embankment then re-emerged once it was clear, and the way it walked, on two legs for an extended period, also it was tall and slim, long legs and arms. I really can't even say for sure that it was hairy since it was mostly outlined by the moon that happened to be behind it at the time. As to being a big person, you can generally see the vague outline of clothing on someone even in that light and there was none. Upon coming abreast of us after we'd slid back over the edge so not to be seen, and I could hear the gravel on the opposite side of the road as it stopped even with us, sensing our presence I guess, I couldn't smell the strong scent associated with sightings of that nature. It moved on till another car came and it went off the side of the road again but we had peeked over the road at it and had been watching it go up the slight incline away from us before this and it being a large person never crossed my mind, and the two legged walk and again, its body dimentions didn't seem bear like. While there have been numerous reports of "Big Foot" in the PacNW, and I would really like to believe in this creature, the problem is that with all of the years worth of sitings, no one has ever found a fossil, a bone, fur, anything at all that can be tested, etc. which seems highly unlikely if this creature existed for so many years. But I really do like to think that someday something will be found. Nevertheless, using rational train of thought, I find it unlikely. Although, while most sightings can be attributed to a known animal, there are still a few that defy explanation -- so far. In this particular area, a large number of bear have been sited by countless numbers of hikers. It sounds like you saw a bear. They are plentiful in the area. I was a kid when it happened and wasn't even born yet when the Cheesey old "Legend of Boggy Creek" Movie was made but many of these people (from the cornball movie) are still my neighbors! Oh and did i mention my husband shares a deer lease with Smokey Crabtree? :) Of course nobody has seen anything in about 20 years or so as far as i know. I love this place! Or something. I got in after it had already started. He was obviously scared and the darkness out there took me back to being out where we were again. It was surreal, and the thought of death or a simple mangling still kind of makes you think to yourself, "am I dreaming? Is this really happening? to me?" but of course it is, and you know what they mean by the fight or flight reaction.
