Ghost Stories & Paranormal Encounters

This was an experience I had when I was 17, I am not quite sure when exactly. I am now 24. I used to live in a small town in a state northeast of India but now have moved to the country’s capital city. I believe in ghosts, spirits, mythical creatures, UFOs, demons and whatever paranormal and quite frankly I am pretty interested in them too. I live with my family and our house was fairly new when I had the experience and it wasn’t an isolated region or anything but a small locality though. The place used to be a paddy field and there is small stream flowing behind the house a couple meters away.

So anyway, it was maybe somewhere about the month of September. It was getting dark and dinner was just over. I was home with my two brothers and sister. My sister and older brother were watching TV in the living and I was in my bed. My little brother who was only 3 then was asleep in their room (he sleeps with my mom). The house had a living room and right to the left from the front door was our room, meaning me, and my two other siblings.  When the house was built there was no partition between our room and the living room so we made up a wall with plywood that was lower than the ceiling and you can hear and see the upper parts of the living room from our room. My bed was closest to the living and partitioned from where I lay with other ply boards were my sister and brothers room.

It was already getting dark, maybe it must have been 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. and having had a pretty good meal I laid down on my bed and turned out the lights. I could hear the TV and I could see the glow from the living room above the plywood wall and I could hear my siblings laughing and talking. So as I laid down and closed my eyes, I felt something was wrong. I don’t know how if I was awake or I fell asleep pretty fast, but the way I saw it, it was all too real. It felt like a dream but everything was just the same as it should be in reality. I was lying in bed I could hear the sounds from the living room, the house and everything was exactly the same but it felt like a dream.  I looked up to the ceiling and then turned to my right.  What I saw scared me to death, but what happened next ripped me apart.

As I looked right to farthest corner of the room and up the wall, I could see that from between the wall and the ceiling, something was crawling inside. I couldn’t see what it was. It looked like a shadow but it was more transparent-like. It had a shape and it was crawling in and on the ceiling. It appeared as if it was the PREDATOR in that movie, the alien but only when it made itself invisible. But this had a totally different shape. I could see it but it was transparent-like and I didn’t know what it was. It crawled towards and suddenly I got stuck on my bed as if something was holding me down.

I couldn’t move and when I tried to scream, my mouth opened as wide as I could and I struggled to let it all out, nothing came out of my mouth. I was like, dumb. I kept screaming, I could hear my brother and sister laughing in the living room and the TV sounds but they couldn’t hear me screaming at the top of my lungs. And then I saw the thing was right above me now and if I could have seen its face it was just staring at me. Suddenly, it dropped from the ceiling and came into my body. I couldn’t move, and I was still for a moment and then suddenly it took control of me and I was thrown off my bed and tossed around the room. I was screaming so hard and struggling to free myself from whatever was keeping me from moving my body. But it would pin me up on the wall and then drop me to the ground again, then toss me up on the air up to about 5 feet and drop me again.

It kept on going like that and I think it said something but I never could make out what it was from all struggling and trying to scream. It would have been a good 20 – 25 minutes when it all happened then suddenly it dropped me on my bed and said something I couldn’t even make out what but more like laughing and saying something and with a loud laughter it came back out of me. I was still frozen and motionless and my voice was still gone. It crawled back up the ceiling and then it seems it turned back once and looked at me although I could see its true form or face, but it paused a while and turned my way it seems then suddenly zipped out the way it came in. Then suddenly I could move and breathe. I gained consciousness again.

My chest hurts and I was sweating all over. I could smell a stale stench for a while. My throat felt sore and I checked to see if I got my voice back and I did. I was so thirsty but I didn’t mind. It all felt so real that I was not sure of what just happened. I was scared, confused and in shock. I got up and sat on my bed just thinking and suddenly I realized I was in the dark and alone in that room so I rushed to living room to where the others were and I got mad at them for not hearing my screams. I told them what had happened and asked them what they have been doing and why they didn’t come to help me but they just laughed at me and told me they heard no screams and that I was just having a nightmare or something. But it was all so real to me but then I soon got over it being real and settled on it being just a bad dream.

It still haunts my thoughts to this day, because I have never experienced something so real as that and so scary before and after it. I have never had that experience ever since. I could say it was my first and my last. I still believe and am really interested in the paranormal and I read a lot about them too. What I experienced might be what you would call a sleep paralysis, I read about a lot of them too. But it was one hell of an experience. I don’t know if that had anything to do with my faith but I do believe that it must have been or maybe something else.  I will never know.
