Sleep Paralysis And The Late Night Door Passer

May 18, 2008

I’m not one for believing in ghosts. I’m not religious at all and I find religion very provocative, however, this story seemed to prove to me a spiritual existence.

When I was 11 years old, we moved into our new house, which is an old Victorian one, with a large hall, old rooms, a large park drive etc. which is situated in Bramhall in Stockport (Manchester, England). On the first night of being there, I can remember having a dream where in my dream, I was lying down on my bed awake, and suddenly my door opened, the room turned blue, and a figure walked in, at which point I experienced sleep paralysis. This was the first time I experienced something of the sort, and I assumed it was just nerves about being in a new house.

Now, I’m a 16 year old, and I’m doing my exams to get into 6th form. Between my first night at being in the house, and about 2 weeks ago, I had experienced no type of supernaturalism. However, at around 1 o’ clock in the morning, I was still awake and on the computer in my room.

I started getting worried about my exams, and decided I was going to do some more revision right there. I walked over to my bag, which was next to my half open door, and I put my hand on my Buddhism book to pull it out. As soon as I touched it, out of the corner of my eye, a figure went past my door, and into my brothers room. I assumed it was my brother coming back from the toilet, but I wondered why there had been no footsteps.

After studying some Buddhism for about half an hour, I went over to my bag again and picked out my math book, but there was no figure this time. I studied math for about 15 minutes, and went over to my bag again. This time I picked out my Islam text book to study. When I put my hand on my Islam book, the figure went past again, but with no footsteps, and I knew this time that it was not my brother.

Freaked out, I went and stood in my doorway, not looking down either end of the corridor. I then heard heavy footsteps coming down from the corridor, and went back into my room, grabbed my sharp ruler, and walked outside, but there was nothing there. I turned round to go back and there I saw the figure in my brothers room, which turned and looked at me, and vanished.

This was two weeks ago, and every time I touch one of my religious studies books, a cold draft goes through my room.

there’s something in chinese that is basically sleep paralysis, directly translated to “being suppressed by a ghost”

i’ve had the sleep paralysis thing you described before… isnt it like when you wake up, you can barely open your eyes and can’t speak or move?

but i never saw anything… the dream was scary, but then i was traumatized afterwards, i didnt actually see the ghost outside, but i saw it in my dream… he was telling me something about finding his true murderer… i thought it might’ve been too many scary tv shows…

If that had happened to me, I would try putting on gloves when I pick up the books

    That is very interesting..
although you arent religious i would get some holy water and a cross.. and just ask for it to leave you be. But make sure you dont say anything else or unless you can get credible information on how to do it. If you mis speak you can open a whole can of worms. thats not so easy to get rid of.
If it reacts badly to the holy water than you have some type of demon, which you should get help immediately..

hi, thanks for sharing your story. i’m a student studying as well and would also stay up until the early hours of the morning. i would be scared to be awake while everyone is asleep. i always pray, that helps. maybe this thing thats bothering you sees that u r vulnerable or something. i think u should do sum deep research on religions (ur study books and more) and mayb you can feel connected to a Higher Power and see what happens…
