Scared to Tears

Posted on December 22, 2010

I was lying in bed one night watching television. I was startled by a very loud banging noise that sent my dog into hysterics. I had a teenage boy once try to break into my home and at first I thought that it was him. The banging noises continued.

I am a very strong willed person and proficient with weapons (guns, knives, tazers). Usually in a situation like this I would grab my knife or a gun and investigate the origin of the sound. For some reason, however, this particular time I began to cry and became so frightened that I was visibly shaking. I have a knife that I keep close to me at all times. I grabbed my knife and my phone and began to walk out of my room to investigate.

When I started towards my bedroom door I felt immediately like I could not breathe and immensely terrified. So, instead, I ducked as quickly as possible up against my closet door. I began to have a panic attack and immediately called 911.

This whole time my rather large bull mastiff is raising nine kinds of hell, so to speak. Thinking back now, any robber would have easily been scared off by him. He starts towards the bedroom door snarling, growling, and barking. When he steps just into the darkness of the hallway, he gets quiet and begins walking very quickly back into the room and lays behind me. At the same time I saw a dark shadow dart down the hallway.

I tell the 911 operator that I believe that someone is in my house and that I am having a panic attack and she dispatches an officer to my house. Luckily, an officer was patrolling the area and had just driven by my house. He lets me know that he is there and I make a mad dash through the house and out the front door. The officer had been patrolling the area for a few hours and hadn’t seen anyone. Also, all of my doors and windows were locked with no sign of anyone attempting to break in.

I cannot say for certain that it was paranormal, but I can say that I have never been that afraid. I have been in a few situations of having to defend my property against trespassers/robbers and I have never been afraid, especially to the point of cowering in my room crying and hyperventilating.

i think thats cool you called 911,instead of thinking right away its a ghost, you werent sure and called thats awsome.im just wondering why would you have someone try and brake in the house?thanks for the story.

you have lots of defecenes! hmm… i think that is supernautral.

  3. Shady says:

Dogs have very good senses, they’re supposed to be able to see things we can’t and from personal experience can tell when someone/something is going to die or even get injured. Bull mastiffs are pretty dominant fierce animals, never really afraid of anything. My advice as long as it doesnt happen again, dont worry about and if it doesnt, dont aggrevate it.

That is Scary! Obviously it was something either from the living or not living. I would have been in shock and scared to tears also. I pray whatever it was doesnt return. Thanks for sharing and God Bless!

  5. Jae says:

From everything I have seen or heard or read, these things are always caused by something. You played with a oiuja board, had some sort of encantation at your home or brought something into your house from someone involved with it. An ankh or something similar. Or been somewhere people were doing something like that. Do you remember anything like that happening? It could be the source…

first you need to breath and tell yourself it can’t hurt you! tell it to leave, that this is your house and that they are dead. get mad if you have to, it helps! get the house cleaned or blessed. you will be okay!

  7. The Earth Writer says:

    Trolldoll-bad idea.

Poster- carry protective amulets(from any religion), knives will do you no good.
Also try to capture an EVP if you can-don’t ask questions but just set it in the most likely spot then play it back in the morning.

  8. trolldoll says:

earth writer, first an amulet is man made and holds no power. why not talk to it? what will it hurt! it has worked before! no ideas are bad ideas period. evps are a good idea, i live in a haunted house so you can’t tell me what i don’t already know!!

Thank you everyone for your comments.
Anna- There is a little punk that lives in my neighborhood that will steal anything that he can get his hands on, so I first thought that it was him trying to break in.
Jae- I dont dabble in the ocult, it can be extremely dangerous. I surely hope noone is doing it around my home.
Trolldoll- Im not exactly sure why I started to have a panic attack, usually I would just be angry that someone woke me and/or was trespassing on my property.
Earthwritter- I carry weapons for my own protection. I wasnt weilding a knife to stab a ‘ghost’, i thought someone was trying to break into my house. For the EVP, I might try it but I am perfectly content leaving it be.

In recent news, I and both of my rommates on seperate occations have seen a gentleman setting on the end of the couch relaxing. He doesnt scare anyone or seem to be malevolent. He is nicely dressed and keeps to himself. He looks like a normal person, not translucent at all. I just hope whatever was in my house that night doesnt come back!

    Thanks again everyone!
