Pawnee County Farm is Haunted

Posted on November 10, 2007

Submitted to us by Lorie Osborne

I had just graduated from high school and decided to ditch the town I grew up in. I moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma to live with my dad till I got a job and my own place.

My sister-in-law had been telling me that the house that I was living in was haunted. The house used to be the old County Farm for Pawnee and it used to be an old folks home. Well, I didn’t believe her at first. I had never really believed in ghost or spirits.

That was until one night when I was alone and I knew that I was alone because everybody had gone to the store to get something for diner. Well, I was sitting there in the living room drawing in the note book I had gotten for Christmas. That’s when I heard what sounded like someone bouncing a ball off the wall. I thought okay this is just my mind playing tricks on me. I ignored the sound for awhile until I heard the door leading to the upstairs open and some walking around up there. Me being my curious self thought that I would go check it out. So I went upstairs and was looking around when it all went cold. I was momentarily frozen with fear. I slowly turned around and there stood this dark shadow of an old man.

I freaked out and ran next door to my sister-in-law’s house to tell her what I saw. We were standing outside when I told her we looked up at the house and saw the old man was looking at us. From that day forward I have believed in ghosts.

This is a true story, not made up, hope it scares you.

It was scary…I’m sure that old man must have died there when it was a nursing home. Not quite sure what the ball bouncing sound was though… they say seeing is believing and i guess it’s true! Did you move out after that?!
