Our Old Haunted House In Spokane

Posted on March 1, 2009

This happened back in 2004 my husband and I had gotten married in February and by April I moved from New Mexico to Spokane WA. My husband being in the Military was stationed out there.

He and two of his friends were renting a two story house on Nora Ave, it was a four bedroom, one on the bottom floor with a bathroom and the other three on the second floor also with one bathroom.

Before I moved there he had mentioned to me that while he was first moving in (He had one of the rooms on the second floor) he kept hearing the toilet flushing by it’s self he’s friend who also was on the second floor said he’d heard it too, but they just shook it off and really didn’t think nothing of it. My husband just wanted to get everything moved in and set up his bed.

Once he got everything to his room and was setting things up he heard the sink faucet running so he went into the bathroom, of course the water wasn’t running but he said that it had to have been running because he saw the last of the water going into the drain.

He didn’t say anything else happened after that just the toilet flushing every now and then. When I finally moved there in April everything seemed fine I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, especially being that I have experienced several paranormal encounters. He showed me around the house and he took me into the basement, I don’t like scary looking basements they freak me out, this one seemed odd even with the lights on it seemed dark in there you just get an eerie feeling when you go down there, even at the top of the stairs just looking down you get a funny feeling. I only went down there that one time and I didn’t like it.

Since my husband and the two other roommates all worked during the day I was always home alone but I had never heard anything different, I mostly stayed in our room and watched TV the only time I went downstairs was to eat or do laundry but I never saw anything.

In June the guy who shared the second floor with us got orders to Korea so he moved out, a couple of weeks later we were putting some of our stuff in his room (it was right next to hours) since we needed more space. While we were going in and out of our room to the next I happened to look right to the stairs and I saw a white figure sanding where the stairs turned (it was shaped like and L). I didn’t look at it for long I turned away as soon as I saw what it was but I did make out that it was a woman. I was scared of course so I went into our room and told my husband he got freaked out and checked it out but there was nothing. I stayed in the room after that I didn’t want to leave.

Everything was fine after that I never saw the ghost again nor did my husband. A couple of months later or maybe couple of weeks we were sleeping and I was rolling over to my side and I heard my husband moaning, like he was have trouble breathing. I didn’t bother to check on him or wake him because he usually does that when he’s in a deep sleep. Well the next morning he told that he was having a weird dream and all of a sudden the window opened and something in a black cloak came through with a white face (if you’ve seen the movie Darkness Falls) the thing looked just like it. It came through the window and got on top of him and was pushing down on his chest, when I heard him moaning he was trying to get the thing off he said he couldn’t move and when he tried calling my name nothing came out.

He told me the only other time he experienced something like that was when he still lived back home in New Mexico. I talked to my mom since she’s very religious and believes in ghosts and all that and she sent us some Religious medicine that had been blessed she said to chew on it then rub it all around our windows and door and will keep the bad out after we did that nothing else happened.

In September we moved out and got our own place, I think we even left some of my husbands old clothes in the basement. We never looked up the history of the house we just left. The house was Vacant for a long time until early last year, but I saw on the news that it caught on fire. Hope you guys enjoyed the story.

It’s probably a good job you did move.

It’s amazing that you saw this dark energy over your husband. Putting the blessed water around the window is probably what caused this evil to stay away, otherwise you could have had serious problems.

Do you still see ghosts or has it stopped since you moved? You seem to have a sensitive side to the paranormal, which may be with you wherever you go.

After reading the story i like you would never go down to a basement strange things happen in dark places they are better left alone let’shope when the house wen’t up so did the evil.

  3. Cece says:

I read that ghosts like the dark better because they can hide. I think you must have had two ghosts in your house. One that was tryying to get help the one who was turning on the water. The other one who was in your basements and hurt your husband.

Sounds like a classic case of sleep paralysis.

The symptoms of sleep paralysis include sensations of noises, smells, levitation, paralysis, terror, and images of frightening intruders. Once considered very rare, about half of all people are now believed to experience sleep paralysis sometime during their life.

Also known as “OLD HAG SYNDROME”, The name of the phenomenon comes from the superstitious belief that a witch – or an old hag – sits or “rides” the chest of the victims, rendering them immobile. Although that explanation isn’t taken very seriously nowadays, the perplexing and often very frightening nature of the phenomenon leads many people to believe that there are supernatural forces at work – ghosts or demons.

    Who knows?
