Old Man Ghost In An Old Victorian House

When I was about ten years old me, my mom and my brother and sister moved in to an old Victorian house. It was so big, there was at least eight bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The entire inside of the house was varnished redwood, the house was beautiful.

There were two stair cases one was in the front hall, it was a giant redwood spiral staircase. The second was in the kitchen, it led to my room but my mom always kept a gate in front of it because it was far too steep for anyone to go up or down.

One night around ten o clock on a Saturday night and I had gone to my room for the night (of course I use the front stairs). As I approached my doorway I saw a glimpse of someone on the back stairs, so I said out loud “your not supposed to be on the stairs your gonna be in trouble” before walking in.

When I entered the room I could not believe my eyes, there was an old man. He was at least eighty years old and he was dressed in old time trousers with suspenders and an old dress shirt. I was not afraid, I thought he was a real person. I asked if he was alright but he didn’t say anything, instead he pointed down the stairs.

I walked toward the stairs and looked down, there was an old wheel chair laying upside down. He then put his fingers to his lips as if to say shhhhhh, then he disappeared. I didn’t know what to make of it so I told no one.

I was silent for five days until my sister mentioned seeing a man walk into the bathroom. That’s when I spilled the beans, but my mom didn’t believe me, she said “why would you wait so long to say anything? You’ve got to be lying.”

She didn’t believe us until she met with the man who owned the house. He said the house was left to him in the previous owners will, an old man who died on stairs. Apparently he committed suicide by rolling himself down the back stairs in his wheelchair.

    freaky! If i came across an old man sitting in my room late at night i would tell him off!

    Well with most big houses for some strange reason theres always something spooky in them. I don’t know why it’s always the big places, well I think I could believe that a bit but I mean I wouldn’t be there watching what this man was doing i’d be screaming !

    If that happened to me i would already run out of the house.But atleast he didnt like hurt you or anything.

    that poor man. he may have been warning you not to go down those stairs or he may just have been trying to make contact, showing you what happened to him? there are so many possibilities but he seems quite friendly. he’s just going about his buisiness. I’d just leave him to it :)
