Not All Ouija Board Sessions are Bad

~ Brief Note from the Author ~

Ok so I’ve been reading through all the true stories on here, and thought I’d contribute. What I’ve noticed is that most of these stories are about BAD experiences, but no good ones. It’s giving Ouija Boards a bad reputation that they don’t deserve. Research them, THEN do one. (All people are 17)

~ Actual Story ~

It was one week before Halloween, on a Friday afternoon. I was excited for the simple fact that I had been waiting for today for several weeks. I’M finally going to do a Ouija Board!

The Ouija

The Ouija

It was about midnight (12 AM) when we started. (We being myself, and my two friends; Jane and Linda [Names changed for privacy])

We set up the space. Being a Wiccan, I had already done extensive research on Ouija Boards. So we set up the board on a small, circular table. (Yes, you should use a circular table) We didn’t have a planchette to use, so we just used one of Jane’s mother’s shot glasses, so we could still see the letters and numbers that would be scrolled across.

We then blew out a candle that had already been lit (you should catch the candle smoke in the upside-down glass) and placed the shot glass in the center of the board. We re-lit the candle (it was white because white symbolizes purity; i.e. it offers protection) then cast a protection spell around us.

Following the little spell cast, all three of us placed our smallest finger on the shot glass, and all moved it around in circular motions to ‘warm’ up the board. Then we waited …

… It took about half an hour to actually do anything. (You should be patient, and wait 10 minutes before restarting) We re-did the ritual 3 times, and then while sitting down, concentrating, a fly started buzzing around, being a nuisance. Then it flew away somewhere and disappeared. [Now as I am typing this, I am wondering if that was possibly a sign.]

Then the glass started to move… Naturally, we were all suspicious and blamed one another for moving it, but we soon realized it wasn’t any of us moving it. My heart started racing excitedly, but I was also semi-scared. Someone else was there…

We started off with basic questions, i.e. How old are you?, Are you from the ‘other’ world, etc.

The thing that completely shocked us was when it answered “Who are you?” It slowly spelt out M-A-V-I-S. Jane then got really emotional. She proceeded to tell us that Mavis was an elderly lady, who was like a best friend to her who passed away several years before. She was one of the only people who Jane really cared for (Jane was depressed and suicidal … She hated society)

Now that we knew who it was, we started other questions. (I should add here that Jane’s elder brother is going out with Linda)

Examples of questions were:

- “Do you want your husband to re-marry?” The shot glass spelt out H-A-P-P-Y
- “Do you like [elder brother's name]‘s girlfriend?” The shot glass moved to no.
- “I wish I could have tried your lemon meringue pie.” The shot glass moved to Goodbye.

After moving to Goodbye, the spirit of Mavis was gone. We sat there in awe for several moments, then started discussing what had occurred. Apparently, Linda was not exactly Mavis’ lucky person. (She did not hate her. When she was alive, she merely cared for Jane and her family, and was rather stern with newcomers)

So end the story.

~ Author’s Thoughts ~

So as you can see… Even though this story lacks elements of danger, intensity, pain, etc., it details safe methods of doing Ouija Boards. Also, I thought I should share this for the simple fact to highlight that not ALL Ouija Board’s are dangerous. If you know what you are doing, and are careful and concentrate, you won’t face any problems.

Hope you enjoyed.
